Default How to create SatNav maps

For those of you who are organising groups or for those who just want to plan their route on their SatNav, the following sites may be of use.

You may use the ViaMichelin web site to create your route and then chose the "Send Via GPS/email" option to save a file in the GPS format that you require. Here is a quick example, you can see the "Send Via GPS/Email" option at the bottom of the page on the left hand side http://www.viamichelin.co.uk/viamichelin/g...008&indemnite=0

You may also use Microsoft Autoroute to create your route and then use the program below to edit or save in different formats.

Once you have done that you can convert to different formats or adjust your route using a program called IntConv which you can download here http://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger...ent-282-itnconv
In fact you can even use IntConv to create your maps too, just click on the "Editor" button and the rest is fairly simple.

Hope that helps.

Here is another useful tip for you all.

If you use Google Maps to work out all of your options/routes, you can use the following tip to download your map.

Adding the following:

Code:
&output=kml
to the end of your Google URL will allow you to download your route in KML format. You can then use a program like ItnConv to convert this into a format that your GPS will accept.

For example, here is the URL for Kiwi's route http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=BB...7,14.018555&z=7

Try adding the code to the end of the URL and see what happens.
