I was looking at this hotel to stay at on the way back, Hotel Kachelburg, Dieblich. Only 470 miles from EM, although a lot on very fast Autobahns!!

http://www.booking.com/hotel/de/kach...adf914e;dcid=1

It is £61 for a double and £40 for a single. It is not too far from the motorway, has a restaurant and parking.

It has some free rooms at the moment.

I think the seacats (the quick ones) stopped a few years back. I'd hate to start anything conspiratorial, but they were the only competition in terms of speed, to the tunnel, which the respective governments spent so much money on, but it was probably for another reason entirely
That's what I was thinking of - the Seacats, I just couldn't remember the name.

Looks like it may well be the tunnel for me then as I was very ill coming back from Megameet 6 on the IOM a few years ago - I don't like the sea
Seacats and Hovercraft stopped because of fuel consumption.

Tunnel really is the best option. Also a lot easier to get on the train with a low car.

We have booked Hotel Kachelburg, Dieblich (near Koblenz) for the Monday night on the way back (we are doing the route that keeps you in Germany as long as possible, as the roads are fast). And the tunnel on Tuesday at 20.20, so it will be a couple of long days driving but we will be home by around 10pm on Tuesday!! Over 7 hours on Monday and 6 hours on Tuesday, but with lunch stops etc it should be okay.

If anyone wants to join us they are welcome.

Quick route down Convoy.

This afternoon we have booked the Euro tunnel both ways:
Out........
Folkestone to Calais 14th May - Departure time 07:50 Cost £64.00
I think to avoid having to organize a number of meeting points the best thing is for us to all meet in the Euro Tunnel
car park before checking in. Check in closes for this departure time at 07:20 so meeting time could be 07:00.

Return.....
Calais to Folkstone 21st May - Departure time 17:20 Cost £75.00
Lorraine and I feel this will allow some time for any duty free shopping as the last nights hotel is only 4-6 Hours from Calais.

I hope we all manage to get booked onto the above shuttles. Please could you confirm you booking and I will keep our list
upto date.

Convoy Out......

I'm going to try and limit the driving to 5-6 hours maximum per day so am currently looking to do the following route which is subject to change:

19th Trento - Stuttgart
20th Stuttgart - Brussels
21st Brussels - Calais - North Wales

If anyone fancies joining me on the trip back to the UK then give me a shout

Cheers
Martin
