Hi,
Did any (Belgians) of you do something about this deceleration noice from the gearbox in Belgium, there is a service bulletin in US but I wonder if it is under warranty here as well

Service bulletin

I read all the service bulletins and am ammazed that in the US there are a lot of things that can be fixed under warranty (gearbox noice, softtop,...,blabla)

I wonder if customers there are being adviced about these bulletins, because from my garage I hear nothing, and second, do these service bulletins also apply in Europe??

Thanx, Cu

We have been asking the same question on the UK board. It seems that UK dealers know very little about these problems and seldom are forthcoming to do the work.

If European dealers are aware please let us know!

I went to a dealer todday and asked him the question, he had heard about some of them, but stated that they didn't apply here, but that most of the times they (serv bulletins) appear in Europe (Belgium) much later than in the US

P.S. According to him the next years 2000's will have a glass rear window.

Yes Bart, I had exactly the same feedback. The only TSB they got in Belgium is the one concerning the gear box oil pump problem on the 99 models. I guess it's linked to the low volume of S2000's sold in Europe.

Oh BTW, thanks a lot for the info on the rear glass window on the 2002 models. This is kind of a scoop . Sorry, couldn't resist.

The only TSBs I know about in Europe are for the gearbox oil pump, and seat belt recalls.

Not to patronize anyone, but I'd give you a word of advice: Make friends with your dealer. I have had the new clutch installed under warranty, and the rattling softtop locks will go the same way.

I have not seen anyone in Europe complaining about the 1-2-3 grind, so I suspect that our cars are immune to this problem.

Don't know about other countries, but I'm sure that the level of service we get down here is way better than the one they are getting in the states.

Mad: at least your dealer knows about the glass window on the MY2002 S2K. You must praise him.
Have you told him about this internet forum or doesn't he have a pc/mac ?

Luis, not only the gearbox pump recall and the seatbelt recall have been done on my '99 S but also the top cover adaption.

I now and then have the 1-2 grind (only if I'm not carefull it occurs) and the deceleration noise is also present (although I find it more a sporty sound than a problem ... but it might be solved too I guess )

Maarten...... There is a difference between a post by Bart2 and a post by Madbelgium2

This time, the info was coming from Bart2...not for me...

The only new info i can deliver here is the Red dashboard combination and...yes the tape player will be replaced with a cd player + CLOCK !!!!!

I am finally (after 1,5 years) going to have this fixed *LOL*

I went for a scheduled maintenance and informed the mechanic that I had a few small problems to be checked after the oil change
  • The famous ticking noise when accell/decellerating.
  • The also famous clutch noise when decelling
  • The clutch does not dissengage completely sometimes.
  • engine does not run as it does normally when cold
  • I asked him if he knew about the serv bulletin concerning spark plugs
  • and the one concerning the oil system bolts
  • finished by stating for the rest all is OK (forgot to mention leaking top)

He didnt hear about the 2 service bulletins, but adviced me to go see the paperwork man.

Same reply there, then I showed him a copy of a Dutch one, still never seen before.

I go back to the mechanic, suddenly the other guy comes with 2 service bulletins that just came in and then while looking through the file with all of the bulletins suddenly the one for the clutch noise popped up

So I got my oil changed, the klicking sound when accelling came from the rear axle nuts (a bit loose, both sides, as found before on the board, THX Board ) and is for the moment fixed and I made an appointment to get the sparkplugs, the clutch, and the oil bolts done under warranty.

I wonder if I would get any of them fixed without this board

Cu
