My car is brought to my dealer on Monday ( finally), today the mechanic called me and told me that the connecting-Rod in the #1 cylinder was broken, tomorrow there will be a inspector from Honda NL to check my engine, the mechanic has spoken to the inspector and he told directly that this was happened (very strange in my opinion, are there more engine problems like this?)
and that this probably was caused due to a low oil level in the engine!!
Bullshit in my opinion, on the dipstick, the oil level was minimum told the mechanic, so oil level must be OK during this failure,(a lot of oil is on the highway) the mechanic told me that the modification has noting to do with this failure, so my question.. what is the problem what is causing this problem.
I have some foto's and Video but I have no idea to import this in this message, if you want them send me a e-mail.
Thanks for the update. I would be interested in having those pictures and movie (my e-mail is vlopes@pt.lu).
I hope they will not make any problems to cover the damage.
Nice pics, I think that camera is a nice toy.
Did Honda Benelux of the service dept check for the new 4 jet oil bolts. Were they fitted as expected ?
Is there any damage in the cylinder walls and pistons comparable as in the photos published earlier with the nr4 cylinder problem in USA ?
With the short block replacement you almost get a new engine. Breaking in is hard....
Danny, good luck!
The Honda guy didn't checked the oil bolts, but he told to the mechanic that he must check it on the new short block if they are fitted correct, here you see the other cylinder walls and also the first cylinder, New short-block arrived today, must also order new valves, it is yet not for sure if I receive also a new head.
This is what's scaring me ,about NOT having the New bolts installed. I know Danny had the recall done, but I wonder if previous damage, before the new bolts were installed, is what lead up to this. Yeah.....yep..scary
