Default french road trip

I just did a road trip last week-end that reminded me why I bought my s2000 (I tend to forget when I spend a week driving in traffic in Paris...).
Start friday 19.00 from paris, rainy autoroute till Annecy, sleep in a nice hotel overlooking the lake. Wake up sat. morning to find a porsche meeting in the parking lot of the Hotel , autoroute again till Grenoble, then "route napol

You chose a good weekend. It did not stop raining all weekend here, neatly planned for my parents' visit. They have to believe me when I tell them I live in the mountains.

Thanks for posting though because I am driving to the St. Tropez region for the long holiday weekend (similarly my gf knows someone with a house down that way!) and appreciate the recommendation of the Route Napol

I guesss you must already be gone on the road (it's thursday), but hopefully you'll get dry weather.

Thanks for the tips. Actually I didn't get to drive very much in the way I'd wanted. On the way down I was in convoy with two cars, one of which was a diesel 206 so speed was limited there. He was carrying my stuff so I couldn't leave him behind (gf filled the boot by herself, will train her better for next time!). Also it started raining around half way and then the traffic jams started, not much fun Detoured back via Arles and Avignon which were very pretty and then again hit the 25km traffic jams around Orange but managed to avoid them by taking a big diversion through the Cotes du Rhone wine region which was both beautiful and with fun roads. I decided to save the gorges for next time when the weather's better.

Regarding the idea of letting the gf drive, I don't think she's ever driven anything more powerful than a Twingo and if you saw the shoes she wears you'd agree that I'm right not to let her!

I did drive through St. Tropez with the roof down one day when it was sunny and was pleased to note that even there people stopped and looked
