Default S2000 to Germany questions

I'm in the military and I was wondering how Germany is about modifications to the car. According to the usaf pov shipping it says that window tint is not allowed on the S2000 windows, also I have my rear window and a strip at the top of the windshield. Will I have to have all of this removed before I can bring the car in? Another thing I just put prm intake on, will I have to put the stock airbox back in? Lastly I had a resonator-ectomy done, will this fail an exhaust inspection? How stringent are the inspections over there? Do they require you to install those stupid pressure washers for the HID headlights that are standard on the European cars? If there is anything else that I am unaware of please feel free to inform me.

I just went through inspection and you should be OK with those Mods as long as the tint is no too dark or mirrored. You are not required to get emissioned tested but the inspector will do a visual inspection of the exhaust so if there is not ovious modification and the exhaust is not excessively loud then you should be ok.

Ensure that your car is in good mechanical shape before you ship it. If your brakes show wear that is close to being out of tolerance then they will fail you and require you to replace them. The same goes with tires. I would suggest if your in doubt replace them before you ship your car because prices are going to be higher here. I would recommend that you plan on getting a set of summer and winter tires if your going to drive you S all year round.

Also, you might want to look up the USAREUR driving handbook and start studying the road signs and laws to prepare for the driver's test.

Where in Germany are you moving to?

I'm going to Spangdahlem, but not until I do a tour in Turkey first.

According to the copies of the country instructions I have for both places, it says no tint on front windows, and the lightest tint the place that I had put it on was 22%, which is, believe it or not, pretty dark and obviously dark on a white car. I'll look into a tint removal place, and hope for the best on the other stuff.

I have brand new Yoko AD07's on there right now, I just need to find a set of rims and tires when I get over there (probably buy them in Turkey and take with me). My exhaust is'nt loud at all I but when the intake really kicks in everything sounds like it is screaming. Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah do they sell high test on base? When I was in Nippon it was 89 only unless you want to buy on the economy.

Basically all mods have to have paperwork.

But for military people the law is different as far as I know.

So shoudlnt be any problem.

I am also moving to Germany, sometime in January. As far as I know, my car will not be "passable" due to it's modifications. Stocky, perhaps you could clarify what "papers" are necessary for the modifications?

I am not in the military, so I won't have any sort of importing "pardon" if one such exists. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. I have my car for sale right now, as I thought there would be no way to bring it with me, but if it's possible, I'd be ecstatic!

This is true. I just moved out of Europe (I was stationed there for the last seven years) and US military members are excempted from most of the tight inspections (Tuv) that EU citizens have to go through. You should be good to go with your mods. I have a heavily modded golf gti, and was never asked to produce any sort of paperwork for the mods. As said earlier, the key thing is to make sure that there are no VISIBLE defects with the car.

Also, you will have access to some really good fuel over there! All the AAFES stations are serviced through Esso, and you can get 98 ron (about the same as 93 octane) at any post. You can also get pre-paid fuel vouchers to use at any Esso station, and most Aral stations that are located on the autobahn. Enjoy yourself over there, I really wish that I could have stayed longer!
