no i don't know any local VW shops in orlando. all my VW buddies are in Atlanta which is where i lived prior to moving to Orlando. i bought the S2000 when i moved to Orlando in Jan, 2006.
i am sure there are shop recommendations on vortex in the regional forums, check there first.

im going to be trying out my first suspension swap on my golf this weekend.. hope it works out.. let me know if u have any insight on the swap..

hope to mkae it to h20 next year.. the vw guys know how to get together just like the s2k guys do..
no need for a spring compressor to do the suspension. super easy swap. i have the spreader tool for the front struts if you want to borrow it. you use it to get the front struts out of the lower control arm. i have done at least 10 suspension swaps on the MKIV cars so i know the tricks. much easier if you have a air compressor and air tools. and make sure you re-tighten the upper strut nut after you put the car back on the ground. if you are scared, i don't mind helping. if you don't have all the tools necessary let me know, i can either help you or loan you tools.
if you go with no spring compressor, make sure you have a heavy weight friend to help out with compressing the new springs. you don't need hulk hogan but as long as they weigh 190 lbs or so you're okay.

just loosen the subframe bolts on the passenger side. this will allow the subframe to drop down enough to get the struts out. no biggie, just tighten them back up to factory specs. check on vortex to get the proper specs. IIRC they are like 75 ft lbs plus a quarter turn. don't quote me on that because it's been over 2 yrs since my last VW suspension install. :
