Default 2002 RSX reliable?

Just wondering if a 2002 RSX is a reliable car since it was the first year for the car. Anyone know about RSX's?

A friend of mine had a 2002 RSX. It was a very nice car. kept right up with the s2000 with I/H/E and pulled away from me when he got his hondata ecu. The car was drivin hard and frequently taken to the track.
he put the jackson racing supercharger on it, man that thing was fast!!
after the 9lb pulley it was making almost 300whp. stock clutch held up and all no slippage. car ran consistant 8.6's in the 1/8 with street tires.(no lsd of course).
anyway even with all the mods and hard driving nothing ever broke on the car. It was very nice and very fast i dont know why he sold it.
any more questions?

I'm assuming it was a Type-S?

Joey I looked at the RSX Type S as a replacement vehicle for the S and they are really nice cars and they're getting pretty inexpensive used. Check out consumers comments on Edmunds.com. They are always scoring well in "consumers reports" magazine. I think the only negative thing I've read is that they have a lot of road noise, but I'm not sure if that is because of the all-season tires that come on them or just poor insulation. I think it's time for a test drive!

Yes that was the type-S. and after putting new michelin pilot tires on it the road noise was drastically reduced.
Yes they are nice cars, I almost bought one.
Just remember RWD>FWD.

Yea, I am most likely buying a base 2002 rsx tomorrow. I obviously am not looking into speed or performance. Just reliability. Thanks for the input.

So this would be in addition to your S? Just wait even though you may say you dont want it for performance, you will be bitten by the mod bug. It happens to everyone, once it starts theres no stopping it!
good luck!

One word...MIATA

VERY reliable...and starting in '01 or '02 their warranty includes a loaner car if they have to keep the car more than a day.

My dad has a '91 with 240k miles. I just did the 4th timing belt on the car and just for giggles ran the compression: 180 in all cyl...new they were 185.

I had one for 4 years...autoxed it HARD...only problem I ever had, I caused through stupidity.

About as close to an S2k as you can get.
