Wellllll I'll never be as cool as Triman, but....... I want to complete a 5k in under 27 min, a half marathon in under 2:15 and I want to complete a full marathon. Any time will do, as long as I cross the finish line! Preferably under 5 hrs though.

AND this is just a dream but I would like to be driving another s2k!
Do you have an idea which race you want to do? Never worry about setting a marathon time goal for your first one. Just focus on finishing your first marathon at a pace that is comfortable enough so that you will want to do another one. And be careful about building up your mileage too quickly.

If you really want to do a marathon this year, I suggest that you hook up with the Track Shack's staff and sign up for its marathon training program. For first time marathoners, Track Shack's people use the Gallaway method of run-walking, i.e., say 9 minutes of running followed by 1 minute of walking with the plan to walk through your water/food stops.

Be just think about completing one, not setting a particular time.

And by the way, I ain't cool. Nancy and the girls let me know that at least once a day.

That's good...hopefully no one will attempt to eat any endangered species either.

Last spring, we spent about 2 weeks in eastern Africa, and I went big game hunting with a tour guide. Although he had neither a license nor a permit, he got us into one of the protected reserves, and we poached elephant and rhino. Spectacular is the only way to describe it. We made it up to the central highlands of the Congo River watershed and poached mountain gorilla. I bagged a couple of newborns myself.

I can't wait for this spring because I have booked passage on a Japanese whaler in the South Atlantic...I am going to try to harpoon a Blue Whale.

I held out myself and spent most of my retirement on an artic excursion where we actually clubbed harp seals and did our best to capsize as many greenpeace zodiacs as we could find.

The best part was finding the pure white baby seals, clubbing them, stripping their pelts and then dying the fur with purple or green dye and finally just leaving it on the snow...out of pure spite....everyone knows the thrill is in the hunt, not the profit you would make by selling the fur.

I like your style Triman....we should make an effort to try to get out to japan again together and tuna net us some dolphins to hack apart

geez.....

along time ago on an island south of Japan... Okinawa... a few of us guys were driving along the coast and saw a gathering on the beach... the village was having a roundup... a small pod of pilot whales had been lassoed and dragged to the beach.. we had stopped and were helping pull the whales aground... the women of the village decended on the beached whales while still alive an were cutting it up into useable sizes.. for our rewards in helping we were given large chunks which we bbq'd and stayed to enjoy the feast... yes I do have pic's.... that was my first whale... my last whale was at a restaurant during an atlantic crossing and we stopped over in Iceland... it was very tastie.. sorry no pic's of that...

you guys crack me up...

sorry for the thread hijack into the food channel... back to our resolutions which may still be in progress....
