Default 7,500 Mile service

I've been trying to make an appointment with Honda of the Avenues to take my car in for the 7,500 mile service. Called them and left a couple messages and also filled out their online form. So far I got a generic email from an internet sales director (Evan) saying "one of our Internet Sales Representatives will be in contact with you shortly." This was 3 days ago. And no phone call yet.

I called again today and finally got to talk to Joel. He mentioned that since it's a 7,500 mile service, I don't need to make and appointment. Just to go in and ask for an express service (30min - an hour with waiting time).

Just wanna make sure this sounds about right to you guys. I'm a bit upset at them right now for not replying. And I don't want to go in without an appointment and have to wait for hours. I plan on going in tomorrow (saturday) morning. Have to get back home before 12:30pm for the gators game

Since a lot of you guys have recommended this place, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt

7,500 mile service is an oil change. Do it yourself, and save some time. There are plenty of guys in Jax that would be more than willing to help you out. If you want to come up to Kingsland, Ga, I'll help you out. Give me a call (912) 674-1023.

I'll probably take it into the dealership for a few reasons:

1) To get the whole car inspected. I bought it a couple of months back and have not had it checked out at all. Will probably ask them to do the 2 year check list even though the car only has 7,500 miles (the car is MY2005).

2) I heard that it's a good idea to get to know the people who are going to be taking care of your car.

3) You guys recommended this dealership

Thanks for the offer though. Maybe one of these weekends I'll go up and visit

Many of us actually do most of the simple maintenance ourselves. I am hard pressed to let anybody do an oil change on my S because you never know what kind of oil they are putting in or if they even change the oil filter.

hmmm... So just wondering those of you who recommend Honda of the Avenues, what do you take your cars there for? Just big/major problems?

Another question
In the recommended service manual, should I go by the mileage or the year? I noticed that some are independent of time (air cleaner element), and some are independent of mileage (3yr break fluid change). But nothing is mentioned about the majority of the lists.

ps I really appreciate the offer, but Kingsland is bit far. Maybe I'll call up SBlueS2k (Orange Park is much closer), check your PM

Thanks!

Yeah...regular maintenace on this car is pretty simple. Not worth paying dealership prices IMO. Buy any parts you need from Avenues (use the S2ki discount). If you have a major issue...that's when the dealer can help...especially if you are in warranty.

Personally...I hate changing my oil. Hassle of jacking the car up and then disposing of the oil. I take my car over to Mr. B's in OP...I take him the oil and the filter and for $12 he takes care of the rest in 10 min. Totally worth $12 for me. He's the only oil change place in town I've found that will use my oil and filter.

Flushing the radiator is another job I try to avoid. Again...way too much mess.

The rest of the checklist I do myself.
