Smile Another broken windshield

Another broken windshield!

I went out to the garage this afternoon to take the S out to run some errands. When I removed the car cover I was greeted with a nice big crack about half way up the windshield, starting at the bottom and running toward the top.

I had noticed a chip (star) from a rock when I washed it 2 weeks ago and covered it before leaving town on business. I can only assume the neat caused the star to crack.

So now I need a new windshield, which will be the 2nd one this year. I replaced the orig. windshield a few days before the SPGP and decided to go with the Honda OEM windshield despite what I had read and everyone said about how "soft" the glass is.

What replacement glass should I use?

Thanks

There is no such thing

The first replacement I insisted on the OEM replacement and even had to argue with my Insurance Company (Allstate) to get it. I wanted all the glass to remain OEM but after this second one I am over the purist approach, I want a windshield that is a little tougher!!

Beginning of Rant: One would think with all the money collected in taxes our roads would be in better shape, especially the interstate. I-4 has many spots where the top coat of pavement is chunking up especially between lanes. when a vehicle in front of you changes lanes they kick up small pcs. of the pavement which when you are traveling at highway speeds are like little missiles coming at you and impossible to avoid. End of Rant.

Just get a Mercedes Guardian. Problem resolved all around. Bullet proof, missile proof, you name it.

Sucks about the windshield though. Sorry to hear.

That sux man...

Mine has like 5 different little rock chips in it.. one day soon i can imagine that i'll be making a post very similar to this.

I've always had good luck with PPG glass in the past, so i'll probably go that route when one of these finally decides to spider out..

That stinks...there is something about the S that makes me think that the glass and paint are really prone to chipping. Now I pretty much drive with my bra on 24/7.
