Default Any STi Owners in here

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you are or were Sti owners or know a lot about the car. I am considering in getting one and was wondering what your toughts were on the car as a DD and a fun car. Unforuntaly if I make this switch the S2000 has to go. What are some of the pros and cons of the car compared to the s2k. And how much more do you think it is in maintance compared to our cars. Thanks for the help

I used to have a WRX before I got my Vette. The WRX is a great car, and the STi is that much better. I've driven a few of them and they are much quicker than the S2k. the 1/4 mile for a stock STi is about 13.1 but Im not sure abt the MPH (and has alot of room for improvement), which is def quicker than the S2k. The AWD is awesome (but theres not alot of breaking out the back end) and its 6 speed tranny is bulllet proof, the Brembo breaks are also a definite plus. But honestly thats where the advantages end, the sound system is sub-par (not that the S2k is amazing) the blue interior, unless you love it wears on you, the paint chips endlessly (Subaru uses terrible paint), the car's not as good looking as the S2k and never can be IMHO, so you def wont get as many looks as in the S2k, and theres no way it will handle as well as the S2k. Keep in mind the huge change from S2k to STi, def drive a few. I would say keep the S2k, and if you need the speed SC it. Supercharging the car will give you the speed and probably save money in the end. But if you decide to get the STi its a great car youll enjoy it.

hey thanks mike, well one of the biggest reason why i am thinking of the change is due to the fact that i got married recently, and I am not sure if the s2k will be big enough. For some reason though today I sat in the s2k and just drove around with the top down and I jsut cant see myself driving anything else. But for room sake I may have to so that is why I am trying to find something bigger but just as fun to drive like the s. would you have any other suggestions too besides the evo. I don't really like the looks of that car from the inside.

STI and Evo's are great cars to mod. $5000 in aftermarket bolt ons and you got a stupid fast car. i have driven both and they are different cars. just make sure you get an extended test drive.

both cars have cheap feeling interiors but that doesn't bother me.

www.nasioc.com and www.evolutionm.net are great websites dedicated to each car.

if your looking for sedan, the Sti you really cant beat the price. i mean you could go BMW M5, or a Benz AMG model but thoes are obiously way more expencive. Have you thought of keeping the S and buying a cheeper daily driver?

I just got Married and my wife will not let me sell it.
My wife has her own car that takes the kids and/or all of us when we do the family thing.
I have thought about selling the car, my wife knows this is the car that I enjoy driving. So she lets me do keep it.
I am not saying your wife is saying your car has to go. I am sure you have thought this through yourself.

I don't know if you have kids, stepkids, one on the way? Things have a way of working out.

I wish you luck in what ever car you decide to drive.

thanks everyone, i was debating in getting a cheaper car and keeping the s, however dont want the expense of 2 cars yet, oh ya as far as the wife is concerned she really doesn't know anything yet about whats needed or not. She is actually from india and is finally coming over on thurs. So at this point she doesn't know how to drive yet and will be dependant on me for the time being. I am sure she would love the top down driving though. I have been thinking though that I may just tough it out on the s for one more year since thats when its paid up for. Then we can look for something for her. so many decsions this married life lol, luckly i dont have any kids yet or then i really would be confused

That is funny! Try and get you money out of it now!

I would buy a cheap four door to drive around and keep the S. The STI is a nice car but hard to compare to the S as you found out on your top down drive.

have you looked at the FIT? You'd save money in gas, and you'd get to keep both cars. I've been thinking about buying one, but I realize that I would never drive it. Your new wife could learn to drive with paddle shifters!
