Yeah I live in Tallahassee, I've been here for about 3 years now. It's definately a college town, we have something like 120,000 college students here (of which I am one). Lots of bars and clubs to go out to, the weekends are wild .

Stay away from the south side of town, it's pretty much ghetto. There isn't really any more crime here than in any other city of a comprable size, and most of the crime is DUIs and vandalism and stuff related to drinking.

Cost of living is ridiculously cheap (b/c it's a college town). You can get a sweet apartment for about 650-700 a month (2bed/1bath), or if you want roomates (which I assume you wouldn't) you can get a sweet place for about 300-350 a month. I live in a nice 3/2 in a nice suburban neighborhood, about 2300 sq. ft., on half an acre and the house costs $163,000 out the door.

Plus food and bars and clubs are cheap since college students are mostly broke, it's also the state capitol though so there are a few nice, upscale places to dine for the politicians, lobbyists, etc. For instance, I'm going out tonight to probably the best club in town, it's $7 all you can drink top shelf. Beat that. Hope ya have fun, man. Lemme know how it goes.

I live in Tally as well (for more years now than I care to recall). Zbrew pretty much hit the nail on the head. During the fall, home football games can get crazy, so you may want to avoid the general FSU campus/stadium area. And as the state capital, traffic goes a little to hell when the legislators come to town. You'll hear some people complain that there's nothing to do here, but we've got parks (our Parks and Rec department was tops in the nation last year), theatre (both community theatre and those associated with the universities/colleges, as well as touring companies), music of all types, a winter festival, a spring festival, food, sports, etc. There are a few nice roads to get the S out on -- especially during spring and fall.

Best of luck with the move... post up when you've arrived and we can see about getting some folks together. Unfortunately, I see a fair number of S's in town, but very few seem to be on here.

later...

sounds like it's a fun city, and that $7 All you can drink is really interesting...i'm glad the cost of living is affordable and there things to do. I don't wanna be bored outta my mind.

Well, i'll get a better idea what i'm getting myself into, when i fly out there for a interview. Not sure when it will be though.

I'll make another post when plans are more certain...

thanks for the info.

Yeah, what's with that? I was out at a car meet last night, they had like 30 or 40 cars there and I was the only S2000. It seems most people here who want to show out and get into the scene have SRT-4s, Integras, and Civic hatches.... Bummer, but it's better than trying to show up against single-turbo Supras and RX-7s I guess.

we have something like 120,000 college students here
.....I have lived in Tally for 22 years. There is closer to 80,000 students, not 120,000. About 15 per level, and then 20 total for grad school.

Unfortunately, I see a fair number of S's in town, but very few seem to be on here.
Yeah, I have seen a few, especially around campus. I saw a silver one (not sure if Sebring or Silverstone) with a Feels rear wing, with black rims that have a polished lip.

I try to get out to that meet out at WalMart, but I was told it was on thursdays between 8-10......I went out one thursday, and nothing. I have a friend who has a pretty sick Accord Coupe that is usually out there (w/ H22 swap).

I am all for meeting up with you guys and checking out eachother's cars......I have a full audio setup (running 110wrms to the door drivers and 440wrms to a Boston Accoustic G5 10" sub in a tool well enclosure as well as an Alpine HU, and S-pods). I have powdercoated OEM AP2 rims (bronze / brown colored), an Amuse lip and Airwalker skirts. I also have various other mods ranging from intake / exhaust to interior custom audio work (by Darkkight1999) and some Rick's accessories.

Shoot me a PM if you guys want to get up.

Tallahassee is a REALLY cheap place to live, but real estate prices have gone through the roof lately. PM me if you want the names of some REALLY good realtors (I was in real estate for a few years, and have some mad connections).

zbrewha863 - I might want to look at that 7995 HU you got for sale. You willing to trade for something + some cash? Maybe we can meet up sometime. I now have a 9851, but am looking for a more SQ friendly HU.....not to mention the backlight adjustability is good too. What are the PEQ options? Built-in crossovers?

Sorry for whoring up this thread, but not every day I see someone from Tally on here! The only other S I knew in town just traded his for an 05 GTO.

As far as living is concerned, and housing, if you are looking to buy, look for between $100-175 / square foot.

Zbrew - what neighborhood is that in? I live in Astoria Park, and the house across the street from me (with 1600+/- sq. ft. and a pool) JUST sold for $165,000. My parents live in Betton Hills, and have a house and lot similar in size to yours, and their house was just appraised at over $400,000.

Basically, if you want to be in town, in a nice neighborhood, look for $150 / sq ft. My house is a basic 3/2 1250 sq ft with a pool (garage was subsequently enclosed for another 300 sq ft) that I got for $125,000 over 2 years ago.

If you need a home inspection, let me know, as I am part owner of a company that does home inspections, and I can give a little discount to fellow S2ki members.

Let me know if you guys want some help with audio....I am pretty good at wiring / installing. I also cleared my headlights this weekend, so I know how to do that now. (just learned some things that will make the process a LOT quicker).

No class this morning, some sort of accident or something on Old Bainbridge (backed up past High Rd from Tharpe).....let me know if you guys want to get up.

Hey thanks man, hope that HU is working out well for ya, I finally ordered an intake so I'm officially part of the modded S2K crowd now - well at least I will be when it gets here.

We got our house for $165,000 in November/December, basically the same dimensions as yours, on a half-acre in Settler's Springs. What's the name of your company?

I'm good at audio too, I used to compete in SQ with my old system but I've sort of gotten out of it w/in the last year. I'd love to get up sometime, there's a red S2000 that comes out to WalMart sometimes with a CF hood and spoiler, and black rims w/ a polished lip. Sound like he has an exhaust, I haven't been able to track him down and ask him yet though....

I have seen that car a few times.....looks really clean. I always see him on Thomasville Rd. on my way home from work. Poor guy is always in bumper to bumper traffic. I saw him turn into Woodgate once.....dunno if it is where he lives, though.

I originally wanted to get rims like his, but they were a bit too much $. I will have to put up with my powdercoated AP2 wheels for now.....they will look a lot better once the lugs get powdercoated black next week, and I get around to painting the center caps :LOL .

Our company is Homeworks Residential Consulting, Inc. we have been running home inspections, and building, for 23 years.....longest in town for home inspections.

Which one did you order? You should REALLY watch out for the AEM V2. It has a horrible tendency to hydrolock the engine (especially in rainy conditions like here). You should look into a bypass valve, and do the "umbrella" mod for the filter. And just a hint.....its a TON easier to install if you remove the front bumper . I can help ya out if you want when it comes in.

Nah, I was concerned about hydrolock so I went with the Spoon intake & filter, I don't think it gives as much hp but it's worth it in FL. Plus I decided that I'm going JDM with the car... Thanks for the offer though, I heard that the Spoon intake combo is a cake to install, just slide it in

I've seen the guy moving, never seen him stopped so I can't tell what kind of wheels he's got, but your rims look fine, kind of like Works (on the color) if I remember correctly.

I'm not getting rims for a lil while, I've decided on getting some more performance stuff first, I want the car to be as fast as a stock Z28 Camaro before I start in with the apperance mods. Plus I've got my heart set on either the Blitz Type-01 or the Enkei Racing wheels, and they're both hard as ass to find....
