I guess I'm just having a bad week . First was my diff , which worked out well . Got it fixed and all is good . Then ..... today while at my daughter's riding lessons , some little old church going lady decides to put her El Camino's brand on my door . Sad thing is that I SAW it happen . I was 15yds away and saw it/HEARD it . It was a nasty hit . I confronted her , and all I got was "I'm soo sorry ." as she continues to walk away from me and into the church (the church shares property with the stable) . I hate that . I hate that more than anything . Don't walk away from someone when they have a legitimate problem . So , we finish the lesson , and wait for her to come out , because I'm getting her info no matter what . She come's out , I show her what she did , she of course denies it . I tell her to open her door and rest it against mine . "See , those marks line up . You did it . I saw you do it , along with two other witnesses . You're gonna lie to me after coming out of church , lady ?!" She says she want's my info , which I already have . I hand it to her with a smile , she hands me hers and I tell her that I filed a report alredy with FHP to document it . She maintains she's not responsible . Whatever , ASS . So , I filed my claim and should be dropping her off tomorrow to get fixed . The damage consists of a vertical sequence of dents about 10in high . There's a 1in X 3/4in chip or scratch at the bottom . Not too bad , but still . Her POS is worth about as much as one of my brake rotors . I just hate when people have such disregard for other's property . And , it was such a beautiful morning to start . Here's some crappy pics :

Anyways , thanks for listening to my rant . This WILL NOT keep me from attending the week's scheduled festivities . If I can't get it fixed by Wednesday , ya'll will have to look at my car from the left side only !!

 

Contact her Insurance company and get the ball rolling on thier end first. You do not want to to have to go through the hoops a rigamarole of trying to do a retro claim through your Ins. co. because you will most likely have to pay your deductable up front and have your company go after hers and sometimes it does not work out.

I would have flipped a wig, so I respect you staying calm. Keep the pics for the claim as well.

 

I hate people like that. The very same thing happened to me, well almost the same thing. I went into the doctor's office and when I came out there was an 80's accord next to my S and a long gray dent into my door. I wrote down the guys tag number and his military decal number and went inside to call the police and when I got back the guy was getting into his car and was about to leave when I asked him if he was going to wait for the police because he hit my car and of course he denied it. The police came and said that the height of his bumper and my door was the same height and the police report concluded that it was his fault. However, when the insurance was all said and done, they, "Geico", said that it was his word against mine and they would only pay for half of the estimate. I feel your pain. I can still see where he hit me because I had to get the dent pulled out instead of getting it sanded and repainted. I guess that's life.

 

Luckily I had a witness (about 5 actually) . Also , I filed a report with FHP just for documentation purposes . Primo , I've got State Farm , and they've always been good . Hopefully it continues . I don't think the deductible will be a problem . I've got the report , witnesses , and photos . If State Farm can't break it off on her fly-by-nite ins. co. given my evidence , then they need to get outta the business . I also get priority service at bodyshops because of SF . They'll usually start work immediately , not the usual "we're really backed up - I know it's a dent and a scratch , but it'll be about three weeks ." crap . That's why I'm hopeful , given the severity or lack thereof , that'll she'll be repaired by the end of the week . If not , well , the repairs must wait til after Thurs. and Sat. !! You guys won't be too hard on a disfigured lady will you ?

Oh , and about being calm - I wanted to inflict massive damage to the beast that scarred my girl . Buuuutt .... that would've been bad .
