That sucks. They should let you use it until that apt rents out.

Get the IR sensor alarm that others have. Set it to super sensative so you can't pass by the window without getting chirpped at. Primo has it and I couldn't reach for his cup holder without it going off.

Is there an alarm model that would notice the tops being cut?

Any alarm with a motion sensor should go off BEFORE someone gets close enough to slash your top.

Viper 791 has sensor upgrades for what they call the radar dome (top down protection). As far as the top up and sensetivity, I have not tested the theory as it pertains to the ragtop specifically but any jostling of the car send my alarm into warn mode immediately and then into alarm after a few seconds. I will test the rag top sensitivity ASAP and update.

UPDATE

OK with my alarm set (and the radar dome function operating-I assume withthe top up as well as down), all I had to do was tap on the fabric and the alarm went into warm mode level 2 which is where it goes right before it goes into full alarm. Prognosis, they could cut into my car but the alarm would go off immediately.

My vote is for the Viper 791 with the radar dome for all S's

Can you give a rough idea of how much that model Viper would cost?

mine purchased and installed with a couple of extra led lights to warn people off was 600.00 but that was 2 years ago and I am sure they have put out a new model since then but the 791 does what it needs to. If it is way cheaper now then I still suggest that one over any newer model.

the transponder keychain is way cool too with a mile and half range and cool led screen
