Attacked, by love bugs
While driving home on the Turnpike this afternoon, I drove through some unbelievable clouds of luv bugs. They almost coated my window over. When I got into town I headed right to the car wash. The front of the car looked like it had a beard and mustach around the air intake. I could see the radiator was pasted with them too. I did a thorough cleaning. When I go into the garage now the oily smell of luv bugs will about knock you down. I suspect some of you have experienced this lately too. What a mess. If anybody has tips about how to clean after a luv bug attack, I would be interested.
The best way I've come up with to get them off is to keep them wet for a while, the longer you soak them the easier they are to scrub off. Obviously a couple of coats of wax before exposure is a good idea.
some diluted Z7 from Zaino and a clay bar. Ditto on the wax before venturing out. A little Z2pro and Z6 beforehand can do wonders.
Oh, and a car bra is the best of all (well, except for the windshield).

Thanks for the replys. I keep wax on my car. I might wax it again this weekend just cause I feel like it's been contaminated! Here is a page about Florida Love Bugs vs motorist. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/BODY_MG068
thanks to Gator U.

I drove from O-town to Ft Lauderdale last weekend and my Spa Yellow looked like a bumble bee by the time I got home. I had to stop several times to clean my windshield.
Shoulda brought the painter's tape!
