Audio amplifier locations?
Has anyone out there found a nice hidden space to mount a 4 channel audio amplifier? I haven't taken my car apart, but so far it looks like the trunk lid is the only place to mount a 4 ch amp. Is there room under the roll bar housing? Please advise
thanks

If you take off the panel next to the spare tire panel there is room to put an amplifier in over the fuel filler. Its safe, there is a lot of insulation. I had mine in there originally, but I moved it because it was overheating.
Now I have a 5-channel Alpine amp so its pretty big, so if you find a smaller amp, you might be ok putting it there.
I ended up moving my amp to outside the panel and mounted it on the panel, now I do not have any overheating problems. Its a great location (takes little to no room), but its not stealth.
Also, if the amp is small enough some people have mounted the amp to a piece of MDF and stuck it inside the spare tire.

Hi Mitch,
I have 2 small 2-channel amps mounted to the left side of the fuel tank. They stack perfectly in that spot! I'd be happy to show the install to you. My goal was to have an invisible installation, and it works for my needs.
The location that Keith suggested will work well with low powered slim amplifiers, but I prefered to have more air space around mine. The space that I used isn't that wide, but there may be a way to mount a 4-channel amp diagonally in a manner that will allow airflow.

I have 2 xtant amps.
One is for subwoofer, and it fits PERFECTLY in the bottom well of the trunk (slides in like it was designed to go there).
The other is under the drivers seat. It prevents the seat from sliding all the way forward, but other than that it's totally invisible.

I'm about to purchase an Xtant 3 channel amp I hope it fits next to the spare. I will probably install a fan or two to keep it cool. I'm also getting the new JL audio sub enclosure designed for the s2k. It mounts in the bottom of the trunk, the tools will have to be relocated, but there is no trunk space lost and it is completely stealth. MB quart Splits up fron should wrap it up and I'm adding an alpine CD changer and installing it in the top storage bin in the cockpit. I'll let you all know how it sounds. I just want to hear it on the highway with the top down. The alarm is my next project.

Ok, I spent 2 days installing my system. It sounds amazing. Here are the particulars
MB Quart Q series in the factory door locations. tweeters mounted in the factor bracket-Very easy. Midbass drivers- I made wood panel to replace factory plastic panel. looks completley stock. Alpine Cd changer- this was the hard part-mounted in the top pocket in the center console- don't try this at home- this was the hardest part of the install- the pocket is not quite wide enough for the changer, made some modifications to the pocket- looks great, under lock and key, very easy to get to, and didn't give up any trunk space. amplifier Xtant 403 A 3 channel amp, this worked out really well, the amp has balanced line input so I ran wires from the radio to the amp, soldered on some RCA ends and poof it works with no engine noise. the amp fit next to the spare tire, I cut an aluminum angle iron to fit the amp, used the facotry screws for the fuel sensor plate (well I think it's the fuel sensor ) and used marine vecro to hold the amp in place, the crossovers for the speakers fit under the amp. For my sub I got the JL sub made for the S2000. very easy to install and the entire system is stealth, the mute function works on the entire system. And most importantly I can hear music with the top down on the highway. I do have the wiring color code for the factory harness if anyone needs it . The jack and tools have been relocated to the inside of the spare tire.

i'm running boston 65 pro's in the door's installed by tweeter with my eclipse two channel amp INSTEAD of my spare tire. We found some interference with the fuel pump could cause problems and the spare isn't worth the time anyways, get triple A and keep the spare in the garage

. Can't wait to see it!
