AutoX - Gainesville
I know I will not be attending the autoX because I will be at Willie Gees party and I already have visions of ... well, nevermind.
But, in case other folks want to try it out ... this is probably one of the best places to start. Check it: http://www.gainesvilleraceway.com/apcm/tem...=1912&zoneid=69
Here's the regional info: http://www.buccaneerregion.org/soloschedule.html
It is a pretty easy place to find and isn't much of a drive from Orlando (less than 2hrs), Tampa (less than 2hrs) or especially Jacksonville (about an hour ... depending on which side of Jax lol).
If you have any questions about this track or how to get there feel freet to ask.

I'd like to think i could be at BOTH .. but, I think we're going to be doing some autox'ing of our own on the way to his house from Ocala. We'll see.
Good luck there ... it's my favorite place to drive.

I'm new to this whole auto-x thing and really wanted to come out for my first time (gainesville is probably the closest event for me (jax)). I am having a hard time finding any info on this event. Is it not a SCCA event? Can I just show up and sign up? Time of event? etc.
Thanks for any help
Thanks for any help
There is no pre-registration needed for this event. Just show up and chances are very good that they will find room for you. I've been showing up to SCCA events that even 'required pre-registration' and they still managed to find a spot for me (because, just like anything else ... people do cancel for unforeseen reasons)
The SCCA groups are usually VERY helpful. Definitely try to get with one of the coordinators at the event (safety steward, organizer, ect.) or anyone else and ask if you can take a ride with them before driving out on your own. It is a huge benefit for getting familiar with the entire process and offers a special benefit for your first run (course PREVIEW ... at speed!)
You will have so much fun and get to meet all kinds of fanatics. Hard to beat the quality of that track also.
They usually want everyone registered by 8am. Drivers meetings by 8:30. Depending on the number of people who show up will determine how many runs you will get. Typically a minimun of 3. I have had as many as 5 because so few showed up.
PM me if you need more detailed info.

Just to add on a little to Bandiscoot's post:
1. Set your tire pressures to 36 psi before you arrive...that's what I have found to be the best setup for OEM tires/wheels.
2. I'm not sure if they have it on their website, but they increased the price by $5 this year...it's $30 for non-SCCA members ($25 for members).
3. Take any extra stuff out of your car...and I mean everything. CDs, garage door opener, the tools in the back, floor mats...it will all have to be out so if you leave stuff at home it's a litle easier.
3. If you want to meet up in Jax somewhere and caravan down let me know.
Any other questions just ask!
