I was just wondering if anyone got pulled over for running with a test pipe or hollow catalytic converter?

Say hello to emissions again. I saw in another tread that Florida MAY/WILL be bringing it back in 08'. If you gut your cat (here comes PETA) you will have to replace it $$$.

Al sux. Funny how a professional politician can be seen as a genius by the media. Oh well. Glad I keep all of my OEM parts in the attic.

i went home to IL for the summer and had to get my emissions checked. i have catback and testpipe. all they do is hook up to your obd2II port and as long as you have never thrown any CEL then you are fine. when i went to the place all they had to say was "nice car".

The only way someone is gonna notice you have a testpipe is if you flip your car. At that point the roadrash on your forehead will be a much bigger concern to you than worrying about someone noticing your testpipe, so I don't really stress over it too much. If emissions come... I'll put my cat back on, it takes a whole 10 minutes to swap them.

In California patrol officers have an extend-able mirror that allows them to check for a cat vs. test pipe. Crist is talking about adopting CARB standards entirely... meaning FL would just follow CARB standards. However, I do not think they will be able to retroactively apply the standards (I think cars in Cali that were sold prior to the establishment of CARB standards were CARB exempt)... I think they will just start enforcing it / certifying the new cars. I do not see how they could possibly retroactively apply it (too much cost to the tax payers if everyone has to update their cars).

That being said, it is currently illegal to modify ANY exhaust in FL (to where it is louder than OEM). (I know.... its not uniformly enforced, but its still there). The FL Statute reference is 316.293. (Removal to cat does increase the db level...)
