bye bye Isabel
The Street Pilot is the nicest - but also more $$$. It has a color screen and gives turn-by-turn voice directions.

The GPS V is also a very good unit. I have the GPS III+, which is several models older. Never had any issues or problems with it after about 5 years of having it. If I were to lose it or if it were to die, I'd look at the Street Pilot.
Check Ebay prices, from sellers with excellent feedback.

Waves were killers today for the surfers... My buddy went out today, and almost drowned... He's not an amature, so that's pretty crazy.. He said he was the only one able to paddle out past the initial brake, and he saw 4 people break their boards trying... Ouch...
Shay,
There is an article in the local paper today Sarasota Herald-Tribune on a handheld self contained GPS. It's called the Garmin iQue 3600 it looks like a PDA with a color screen and has a flip up GPS antenna that flips up from the back. It runs Palm software has calendar, address book, plays MP3's and functions as a voice recorder in addition to the GPS functions Mapping, turn by turn directions, odometer, speedometer, altimeter. All in the formfactor of a PDA with a nice color display and 22 MB of Ram. I checked their website heraldtribune.com, but the article is not online yet if you want use that as a starting point and maybe the business editor could email you the article. It's a little pricey at $589 plus 50 for the car kit, but a good PDA would run over $300 without the GPS. Hope this helps.

J - thanks for the info. I'll check into that some more. I'm currently using the Zire 71 and was hoping Palm would come out with that GPS attachment gizmo they have for the M series for what I have. Guess not. I did see the iQue onthe Garmin site. I need to see what PDA features it has vs. the Zire 71. I don't use the camera anyway so that's no biggie. It's fun at times but it actually takes pretty crappy pics. So, if that works out (the iQue) then I'll need to sell my Zire.
We'll see but thx again!!!!!
