Default 'Check Fuel Cap' Indication

This indicator came on today. I checked it and it was tight. Broke out the owners manual, it said to do what I did and then hit the RESET to clear it and return to the odometer readout. Are they talking about the same reset that you hit to clear the trip? If so, I did that and it did not clear. Although if I hit the button only once, it will toggle back to the odometer, but will come back on the next time I start the car. HELP! How do I make this stupid thing go away?!?!?!

This happened to me after I picked up my S. Ignore the idiot light and do not refill the gas tank until you are below a quarter of a tank. Once the fuel gauge gets below a quarter of a tank, FILL the tank and make sure the gas cap clicks a minimum of three times. What happened is that the tank is vacuum tested each time the ignition is turned on and it failed the test. When the ecu compares the vacuum test

It still stayed on after I filled up this morning, should it go away right away or after a few starts?

Update, now it's been on for 4 days and has not reset. Any clue as to how to reset it? Any help would be appreciated.

could it be that your gas cap is bad? We kept getting a CEL wit general code for fuel emissions on the "HEEP". We replaced the cap and problem went away.

I found the solution that I mentioned on internet and if I remember correctly, the dealer will look at this (at no charge) because of some issue with the ecu. The ecu on 06' up runs the entire car - GD everything! Sorry for being vague but this was last year when it hit me.

This happend a couple week ago to my 06, Took it to Honda, they said it will go away after you fill up and make sure the cap clicks more than three times. It took about a week to clear. I would wait a week and if not have Honda look at it.
