Default Does anyone know how to install a convertable top?

I want to get rid of my crappy plastic window and my tearing top and get something better. I want a sturdier top and a glass window.

SO.. I have two questions for you guys:

1.) Where should I buy a new convertable top?
2.) Does anyone know how to install one or where I could get it done?

I don't have thousands upon thousands of dollars to spend, so I'd prefer to spend alot on a nice top rather than a little on a crappy top and alot for the install.

Thank you guys!!!

I do, I've done it. I bought my top from cabrio world on ebay, it's a robbins top, 00-01 glass rear window upgrade. The install is a royal pain in the ass, but if you want to take this on, I'll be able to help you out. The only tools you'll need other than hand tools are a punch, drill, and a rivet gun.

The new top is defenately top grade material, better than OEM in my opinion, and the glass rear window is a gazillion times better than the damn vinyl rear window.

Where are you located? It took me about 10 hours to do the complete job...so it'd make a good saturday project.

If you have thousands of dollars to spend, go to the best Upolstery shop in town and have them order and install it for you.

wildcard, was that swap possible using the same frame? I've an '00 and have considered a glass window, but don't want the trouble/cost of a new frame, too.

You use your same frame. All you need to do is replace and add some new straps to it, hence the need for the punch, drill, and rivet gun.

Also, go out and purchase extra rivets before starting the project. It seems they leave you no room for error with the ones supplied!!!

you're better off buying a used assembly from a newer model S and sell your old one to someone who needs it. It'll cut down on installation time and definitely will save you money. Just my opinion because that was what i did.
