Well, we left this morning around 9 and arrived almost 11 hours later at 7:45. The trip was pretty uneventful, but quite a few construction zones. Police were pretty thick in Georgia around 475 and again just before entering Tennessee. In Tennessee they were on 75 by the fog notification area signs and again on 40 before you get to the hotel. Met up Raul, TD and his wife Donna from Mississippi, Alex and Rob from Virginia. We went to dinner at a local Italian place called Naples (great food). Just got back plugged in and thought I'd drop you this note on the ride up. Going to the Dragon tomorrow morning and I'll post again when we get back.
Ah Naples. My wife worked there when she was in college. We know the owners very well. If you get to go back there and there is a bar tender named "Jane" Tell her that you know Sara & Joe Campbell, she will be really suprised. Wished I was there, but I am not getting my car back until tomorrow. Oh well, have fun and be safe.
Man, what a strech of road that is ran the Dragon today as well as the road over to Fontana Dam what a blast! I can't remember ever beinfg challenged like this before. Other than autocross which happens on a level surface I've never experienced the amount and diversity of turns like these before. My friend Brian that came along as a passenger had a great time as well although after the run on hte wayt to Fontana he thought he might be sick. (He won't ride roller coasters at the amusement parks) ON the way back though we ran it a little bit faster and whatever was make him feel queasy on the way over was undone on the way back.
Can't wait 'til tomorrow wish everyone was here. This is something everybody should add to there must do list.
Some Photos on the way to the Dragon. (my passenger/photographer was not up to photos and riding on the Dragon itself)
Cars and owners resting at the Hotel
We go Topless!
On the way to the Dragon. Raul had arranged a police escort to the highway that took us to the Dragon. They blocked all the intersections so we could keep the group together no small feat since the caravan was probably 1/2 mile long. We counted just over 80 S2000's and 2 NSX's.
Drivers meeting before the Dragon
Back at the Fontana Dam
test pictures before the lunch shots
A picture of my car from the top of the Dam. We had luch at the top of the dam and then drove our cars down to the bottom for more pictures. This is pretty much what I have pictures of, but I know there will be a slew of photos up, when Dave and Keith get back.
