Default errr Corvette owners

So after work I was on the mobile gas station on Lake Underhill/Dean Road when I parked behind a Corvette owner and got gas.

Corvette owner: Hey how many cylinders does it have?
Me: Hi 4
Corvette owner: How much did you buy your car for?
Me: It's a 2000 model got it for $16k with 30k miles on it.
Corvette owner: Really? I don't get it. I have a 99 C5 with 60k miles and I can't even sell it for $16k. I HAVE 4 MORE CYLINDERS THAN YOU! *shaking his head thinking I have a pos*
Me: Ok with a confused look and said good luck with the sale and left.

He than peels out and speeds off. He looked to be in his mid 30's.

Wow I just was amazed at the ignorance he has. Everytime I meet a Corvette owner they are very arrogant. Just annoys me...I could of said a few things but Im not going to stoop down to his level. Dude is probably going through his mid life crisis.

Maybe thats why Chevrolet stands for

Cheap, Hardly Efficient, Virtually Runs On Luck Every Time
Car Has Extensive Valve Rattle Or Loud Engine Ticks
Can Hear Every Valve Rap On Long Extended Trips
Cracked Heads, Every Valve Rattles, Oil Leaks Every Time
Constantly Having Every Vehicle Recalled Over Lousy Engineering Techniques
Cheap Heaps Erratically Vibrate Running On Level Even Terrain
Crappy Running Engines, Very Rusted Out, Lose Every Time

j/p

My friends 87 vette only has 250HP and weighs almost 3700 lbs and he keeps telling me how fast it is. So I let him drive the S......I freaked when hit the rev limiter in first gear......but he doesnt talk about his vette much anymore.

Many of my neighbors have Vettes. I've driven a number of them over the years as well. No ZO6s though. Fun in their own right but I still love the S more. To each their own as they say.

I don't street race or anything like that but I do love when any American car gets up on my bumper and then we hit an off ramp. As all of you know, we don't necessarily have to slow down. The car sticks. They on the other hand are braking their butts off to keep it on the road. By the time you get to the new straighaway you just keep tooling along, never breaking the speed limit, and they are waaay back. A straight line? Maybe a different story of course but as I explain the Indy driver stuff to people when they try to compare to NASCAR or something. "Yes, these are race car drivers too, but they turn left AND right," with one of my eat S#$% grins.

I LOVE the acronyms though. I gotta write those down. Thx for sharing.

Just because you have the money to buy a corvette, Viper, Porsche doesn't mean you necessarily know how to drive it.

I have driven C5s and I didn't like the way it felt. It would hold the turns but very heavy in the wheel.

I would think 16k for a 1999 would be a good deal . Just remember there is no substitute for cubic inches. You can do a lot with an LS1 and make it smoke a S easily.

I agree there are a lot of cocky Vette owners but they don't seem as bad as Porsche or BMW guys.
