I was once a part time Deputy Sheriff out west. I carried a 38 that onced belonged to the former sherrif of miles city montana. I still have it. It has 3 notchs in it that were there when I got the gun.
All I ever did was an occasional road block as I was the only one out there and occasionally help a pickup full of partying Souix make their way between the reservations. (We couldn't arrest them, just call the reservation cops)
Best part of the deal was sitting up on the buttes overlooking the Yellowstone watching for campfires on prom and graduation night. The county threw a annual party once a year where all the confiscated stuff was used for refreshment. Never arrested any of the kids either instead they let them walk which is a long walk out there.
It always amazes me how the relationship between the cops and the everyone else was on such a different level there than it is here in Fl.
