Default flat black paint

ok so mine is a 03 with 90k miles on it and the paint is cracking and there are quiet a few scratches on it. lets face it honda didnt use that great of clear coat from the factory and who ever had the car before me did not beleive in waxing so im stuck with crappy paint and would like to do something unusual have not seen that many with flat/semigloss paint and i dont plan on getting rid of the s any time soon wife just bought a new 08 si sedan and when we decide to have a kid i will take the si and get her a pilot or something else from honda so not woried about resale from the paint and also it will be a decent paint like a true urethane with flatening agent not just a clear/base with out the clear that doesnt last and will also paint jams to match.
so any suggestions

Yup. Read the Michael Phelps thread. Engage. Then reconsider.

I wonder if it would be more cost effective to do a wrap in flat black than to paint.

Tight Wraps in Tampa gave me a quote of 1800 to "Dead" a "normal" S. They will soon be wrapping my J's Type V hood which now one would even me a quote due to the complexity...

Dude, there were two periods in that entire paragraph. I think. I'm totally dizzy from trying to read that.

i swear that was gonna be my response too

I've seen a few auto's/bikes done in the flat/matte finish before. Some look great ... some no so much.

Go for it! I would try the cheapest way possible first (ie. rattle-can it!). Or ... get someone here with some great photoshop skills to mock it up for you first.

good luck!

Yeah...I don't think you could get a really high quality full paint job for $1800 unless you do a ton of the prep work yourself.

A full wrap will cost you around 1500. To have the car completely painted flat black will cost you just as much as a regular paint job. It still involves the same amount of labor and prep work. Someone already flat blacked his car and it looked okay. It depends what mods you have done to your car that will make it look suitable. I think a stock S2 painted flat black wouldnt look so hot. Maybe an extra for Mad Max sequel?

Flat black looks good on curvy cars IMHO. The s2k is timeless but I dont think it would quite nice. The new Genesis coupe pulls it off well.
