Moved down to South Florida last Sept. I also spend a lot of time in Tampa for work and family. Theft is higher in certain parts so worry more about a garage, alarm with pager and seat locks.

In terms of getting pulled over I just experienced my first stop down here as a resident. I did nothing and was on my way to Lowes at 8am on a Sunday. Cop pulled me over in my OEM ap2 after tailing me for a while and said he ran my plate but pulled me over because he couldn't find a license in his system associated with my car. BS lol. Gave my license and he checked and I was on my way. This was in Tampa BTW. I find more speed traps in Tampa maybe he was trying to catch me with that .. Who knows.

I don't mind getting pulled over. Being from NY I was constantly harassed always "fitting a description" so I'm used to it. Be polite and let them do their job and they are usually pretty cool after that. I also take comfort in knowing if my car is ever to be stolen hopefully they will pull the f@#ker over too lol.

You should have stated it's illegal to run your information before pulling you over. Damn cops.

That is probably why he brushed me off and left quickly when he couldn't find anything on me. He looked so pissed too. Sorry for driving a nice car, following the rules of the road and having a clean record. Guess stereo types aren't true. Now had he pulled me over in Alligator Alley this post might be a little different..

I moved down here a couple months ago from NY and the drivers are scary! Wow! NY was bad, but damn! When someone almost drives over a median from a shopping center and almost hits me at night on my drive home from work, we have problems.

Is there any talk of making it illegal to use your phone while driving?! My god! Everyone is texting or talking on the phone and do people wonder why there are so many accidents? I saw two accidents on the road my street is off of in 2 months. That's insane.

I have to say that owning a s2k here, with this sky and beautiful environment, man that's just something else! It's truly a beautiful place to be. I really just wish driving weren't so terrifying.

Very true AWESOME for top down weather lke every day but to many people always on there phones and its not like its just teens a alot of older people as well.
And yeah there are laws against it but nothing serious I believe if you get pulled over for texting its a 30 dollar ticket plus court cost 60 for a second offense. But the label it under careless driving. Its kind've stupid because your allowed to text at a traffic light or stop sign but not while driving.
Its pretty sad that people let texting become this huge of a problem before drunk driving now texting

You nailed it. I also read just the other day that texting is legal while parked or at a light! How does that make any sense?! No wonder everyone makes fun of Florida....The article also stated that the laws will become more and more strict over the years, but I won't hold my breath.

Another thing I love is driving under the 528 and having bats fly all around me with the top down at night. Now I know why Batman does it haha
