^Buddy, I love coffee, and there would be no way that I would go to a meet if I could swing a trip through the plantations in the land of Juan Valdez!
I'm still checking up on some other 'interests' for this same month. So, with this S2000 event happening I'll try to hold off on this guy ...
There was a really interesting multi-part documentary on PBS recently entitled, I think, Black Gold. It was about the international coffee trade. Coffee is one of the top five commodities traded in the world today.

Contrary to popular believe, the best coffee in the world is not Colombian but actually Jamaican...

Or so the proponents of Jamaican Blue Mountain would have us believe. There is more than just a little marketing blitz to this. For those for whom price is no object, I might suggest Hacienda la Esmeralda from Panama which retails for about $100.00 a pound. The raw bean, or berry, is one part of what makes a good coffee. Far more important, however, are the roasting and curing techniques. Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, is also making some strides in the high end gourmet coffee segment of the market.
JBM is a good coffee ... but, more a product of great marketing and promotion I'm looking forward to sampling many samples from the Central American area while we're there. They include a very in-depth educational tour of the entire process

But ... if i go before the Super Meet ... i'll see if i can talk them into sponsoring the Super Meet.
