Default Gainesville Auto-x

I'm going to the event this weekend for my first auto-x ever and was wondering if anyone else was going...

1.) S2k:-) (Me, Nick)
2.) CoastS2k
3.) Bandiscoot
4.) abmusser

^^^ I think these are some of the people who are going.

We are the only ones that I know so far that are going and if there is anyone else post them here (or just link me to a thread that is already going about this)

Sorry if this thread already exists, but if not, I hope to get some response

-Nick

p.s. I've seen SOME threads talking about this but none actually listed who'd be there. I'd like to meet up with everyone before we go. I had plans to meet up with alex and I figured it would be cool if all the S's drove up together!

I'm not sure if meeting up before is going to be easy, but last time a bunch of us drove down to Hooters AFTER and had some dinner. It was a good time. Made me wish I went to the U of FL!!

Anyway, looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Is there anything I need to be sure to bring in order to get to race...

Jeans or shorts
Long sleeve of short sleeve.

Does the way you dress matter?

Just got back from my first auto-x experience. It was an absolute blast and couldn't have expected more from it. Just wish I could have gotten pictures taken.

Thanks CoastS2k (matt) for the tips and advice and helping a fellow s2k'er out.

Heres how it went down for me...
1st run: Off course (ya, they caught me Matt, wouldn't make that mistake again)
2nd run: 65.967
3rd run: 73.434 (spun out in the 90 before the horse shoe)
4th run: 62.356 (i guess its not too bad for never attending a auto-x, i hit a cone for sure in the "horse shoe" if thats what its called, but they didn't mark it down so i guess it was still in the box)

Definitely up for doing this again, now all I have to do is get my SCCA membership

Kenny glad you enjoyed it. It's fun watching a first timer come back from the first run with a smile ear to ear! That was a great autocross, glad to see so many S2ks out there. I was pleased with the way I drove in my first two runs (except for hitting cones) but I got stupid on my last two.

1: 61.8xx hit the last slalom cone
2: 60.6xx hit the last slalom cone again...this would have been my best run
3: 64.4xx went through the 90-degree after the chicago box too fast, absolutely NAILED the cone on the outside of the turn despite slamming on the brakes
4: 61.8xx clean, ended up being my fastest run after all the cone penalties, but I drove conservatively trying to get one clean run in.

Kenny, I would consider a 62.356 today at your first autocross an outstanding time well done.

Alex, I think you picked up some good pointers today. Next time, just leave the car in 2nd and concentrate on steering and throttle...your times will come way down.

Not sure how everyone else did (well we all know Mr. and Mrs. Racemint smoked all us youngsters!) hope you all enjoyed it.
