Default Germain Honda / Questions

Sorry to post so often, but I thought I'd give you guys some info on my progress.

I just called Germain Honda in Naples and spoke to George Renault. I asked when the 2003's would be coming and he stated he was unsure, due to the fact that his associate was not there today that collects this information.

We then talked price. He said the car has a "Market Adjustment" on it (What the hell is with this?) and that it sells on the floor for 39g's. This was even worse than Crown Honda in St. Pete. He then stated they could work something out about paying MSRP if you pre-ordered, but I would have to come in and go through the regular dealer / customer ritual. I then said "I don't want to drive 2 hours south to Naples and not pay MSRP." I was trying to be firm, but not to pushy. I'm sure you guys know the feeling.

As I'm writing this, the dealer just called me back. I definitely feel more comfortable the second time going into negotiations then at Crown Honda. He told me they will sell at MSRP (YES!). And then he went on to tell me how they had a silver/black coming in, but I didn't want that. Then he said if they had to dealer trade for the car I wanted it would be trucked to them for about 600 dollars. I was a bit taken back by this, because as a 2003 model, it should just go right to them. After a bit of clear up, he was referring to 2002's, because their dealership want's to sell off all the 2002's they have coming in or are there.

So to sum up, I'm heading down to Naples on Saturday to work out the details and get my Integra appraised. Hopefully I can get what I want for my Integra, expecting 10g's.

Guys/Gals --- Any last minute tips for Saturday referring to negotiations, such as getting things thrown in for free or minimal charge, appraisal tips for the Integra, etc?

Thankx to all

John

There is a dealer in South Dakota that will ship you a 2003 del included for $31k plus any increase over the 02 price - he posts on the int. foreum. - ck it out . MSRP is really a thing of the past - now it is how much under are they willing to sell for.

Good Luck

John, I am vacationing out in Arizona or I'd meet up with you and drive over with you. The salesperson who dealt with me was female and she told me anything over MSRP goes to the dealer, so she didn't care about giving me MSRP - the sales manager insisted on $300 over (this was before I had access to this great site ). Check out about that delivery included offer and use it in negotiations - " I'd really like to buy in Florida but it's hard to turn down this price etc." Go to kbb.com and edmunds.com to get an idea of what yours is worth if you haven't already. Even though you're driving 2 hours, be prepared to walk away. Have a cell phone or say you are going for a visit with a friend and will drop back on the way home if you don't get the offer you like. Tell them you are prepared to buy today but only if you get the price you like. Also, tell them this is going to be your only trip to Naples so you would like the deal done today. Always talk price, not payments. Negotiate the S2K price first and say you haven't decided to trade in the Integra. The trade-in is a completely separate negotiation, don't let them try to group them together. The more info you have the better off you'll be. Be firm, remeber there are many more dealers out there who would love your business ( at MSRP they are still making a guaranteed what, about $4K). Anyway good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Thanks for the helpful hints Troylmer, I really appreciate it. You brought up some good points on the trade-in, as in, it's a seperate negotiation. I'll definitely remember that when going there.

Definitely need to be ready for this trip, wish me luck. Thanks guys.

What year is the Integra? I just unloaded my 1995 GSR after buying the S2000. Dealer would only talk $4k trade in, but I sold it privately for $7k in less than a week. Particularly if you have a GSR, there are lots of people interested. I listed mine in the AutoTrader (magazine and online) and a guy called and flew down from Mobile, Alabama to buy it. If he didn't want it, I had 4 others who were seriously interested as well.

Glad that deal worked out for you w/ your GSR. My Integra is 1999 GS model, auto. I don't think there is a huge demand for the GS like there is for the GSR. It's in perfect condition except for 2 small rock pits in the windshield. Has all records serviced by the Acura dealer. I went to edmunds and kbb and there site said between 10-12g's. If I get 10 I would be happy.
