I'll upload my "drifting" video later tonight when I get a chance. Bill, I loved the commentary when you were on the P.A. system...good stuff!
I absolutely had no chance with the tires that were on the takata setup
. I think the previous owner drove on them when they were completely flat and ruined the sidewall because I've never experienced a tire that loose even when the rears are at/below the wear bars. Hell, my FJ Cruiser grips amazing compared to these POS's.
Here's a glimpse at the track wheels

Yes...they are ridiculous (but go really well with the black/red interior)

Kenny, you and Chris need to contact the CFR SCCA guys and explain to them, if you've got a good reason, for not working the course after you ran the morning heat. They're quite upset at you 2, and neither of you are welcome back ATM.
Aside from that, heres how it basically went down...
AS and SM2 were in the first run group...40 car turnout, so we all got 5 runs in. The track was fun but a little loose, as my car was understeering going into each turn, powersliding all 4's in the turns, and oversteering on the exit ( a front swaybar is in order for my car). I started off with a 64.something, went to a 63.6+1, and then on my 3rd lap got greedy at the finish...I nailed the throttle coming out of the decreasing slalom to go thru the last 2 kinks and the finish...had I had more grip, I would have made it. The rear came out from under me as I was crossing the finish at redline in 2nd (waaaaaay to fast), and I took out the cones at the timing equipment, but somehow managed to miss the equipment itself thank god....and slid off into the grass where the spectator tents are. My wiper nozzles bleed under the extreme G forces I pull when autocrossing
, so when the wave of dirt and grass flew over me, it covered the cocpit, inside my helmet, and left mud tracers all over my hood. My ITB's were full of dirt too, making for a grumbly idle until I got back to grid and cleaned it out. Oh well, now my cylinders have had a nice sandblasting to get out any carbon
My time didn't count because I was going off course thru the finish, but it would have been a 62.6. The next 2 laps I learned my lesson, but kept pushing the rest of the course slightly harder each lap, and worked my way down to a final time of 61.9. A good time for the morning heat run group. I'll let the others tell their stories, but both BSP cars had better times than me ( a testament to how important suspension and good rubber is).
No pics or video from me, I was too busy driving, and Scott was too hungover to work 2 cameras
My clutch managed to survive all 5 6k launches, but my brakes are in desperate need of replacing, and I gotta get a front swaybar to tame that rear end. I trophied 1st, but I was by myself again, as always. I should have been bumped to DM, but the rulebook is slightly unclear on how far Street Modified cars bump...but even if I had been bumped to DM, I beat both the Austin Cooper and the lotus 7 in that class, so I grabbed a trophy anyway
The yellow s2k with the fastest S2k times (I'm sorry I forgot your name, I'm bad with names until I've met you a few times) lost just barely to an STi in AS, and both BSP S2k's lost to 2 STi's. Kenny's times were horrible, but he was unable to figure out his tire situation all morning. His car had NO grip at all. The event was over by 2pm...not a bad ending time for a Gville event. It was a good day and a good battle. AS and BSP were fights right up till the finish, but unfortunately Subaru took home the the most trophies yesterday...their 3 to our 1. I did my part (small as it may be)
