LOL. The degree gives me no more cred on this board, or any other! If not so ugly, maybe a sports broadcasting career would have been fun for me! Shay you know me like no other on this board. Play it, coach it, or wish I was better at it - I have done it all! Too often wishing I was better at it!
Most don't follow sports, or "their team" as detailed or passionately as I do, I guess.
Shay, can I tell the story??? Please???
About 10 years ago, Shay (nvrquit), wanted to finish a 5K race without stopping. Although Shay was a sports guy, running was not his calling. So, like many others, I coached him from no running to ready to run. The funny thing is, that about two weeks before the event, Shay and I went out for a training run together. At this point in his training, Shay was already ready for the 3.1 miles, but did not realize it. We went for a 3 mile run, and actually went 5 miles. When we came back, I disclosed to Shay how far he had gone. We was amazed. You should have seen the look on his face! I laughed, because I knew he was ready for 5 miles. He had no idea. So, to say the least, race day was EASY for Shay, and very successful! Great accomplishment Shay!
I still crack up over that look you gave me after learning we had just run 5 miles!!!!! That was a great day!
Shay, ready for a marathon yet???? Only 23 more miles...

Didn't we run a bit farther than that? I want to say we ran just under an hour. You know best though. What Caputo fails to recall is I did feel great right after the run. A few minutes later I was sick as a dog and cussing his name. It was funny nonetheless and he did prove I was in better shape that I wanted to admit. Nowadays...not so much. I get winded chasing the kids up the steps. I gotta do something about that. Scott gotcha beat...38 baby!
The other fact Caputo isn't acknowledging is not only did he get me ready for the 5k and I beat my goal for the race but that he also ran the 15k and before he could even catch his breath told me he was running the 5k with me so he could not only Coach me along but run lead to break up the whirling cold butt wind that morning. I basically drafted him. My job was to shut up, breath, listen to him, and watch his pointing. He would use hand signals on where he wanted me to draft. He knew more about what I could do that I did.
In any regard the boy knows sports both being in them as a tri-athlete, intramurals, sandlot, to his degrees, to coaching, to being an avid fan. I'm just glad we like the same college team.

I couldn't care less about USC or UGA.
