I'm soooo tired of NY in the World Series year after year after year. I was pulling for the Cubs, but now I'm hoping Florida comes through and wins the whole thing.

I'm also tired of going up and down Dale Mabry and seeing all the Yankee wins on the billboard.

Wow, you hardly ever post on the Floriday boards. You must be bored.

When are ya coming to a meet!?

something about having the highest payroll year in and year out might have something to do with it also

Any team can have the 'highest payroll'. In fact it was the Rangers and Red Sox who ran salaries up the last go around with A Rod and Manny. I can't fault Steinbrenner for investing in his product and reaping the rewards. In fact, I would say that the core of the team was actually Home Grown and Steinbrenner simply kept them (Jeter, Pettite, Williams, Rivera, Posada, Soriano, Johnson).

The Yankees are not the only team in a large city, there are the Dodgers, Mets, Cubs, White Sox, Red Sox, and I don't think that Miami is too small either.

Having the highest payroll also does not guarantee success, the Yankees had poor teams for a long time with a large payroll. I think that George finally figured out that chemistry is important.

If a any business didn't invest in its' product then they would be doomed for failure in the long term.

Actually, Wells wasn't wanted by anyone else and signed a relatively cheap contract loaded with performance options, Clemens got here when the Yankees traded Wells to Chicago and then signed a deal that probably was underpriced since he wanted to stay.

You are 100% right on Musina and the same for Giambi. The Yankees gave up their top pitching prospect to get Boone.

I think that people have the impression that they Yankees raid the free agent market. I see it more as they pay to keep proven players that they want and will enter the market selectively for a few such as Mussina and Giambi.

I think it will be a good series, but to be honest, the rivalry with Boston was so key that I hope they don't lose focus.

Best of Luck.
