The gay population in Key West is no where near what it once was. They all moved to S Beach.
The best food is not on Duval Street. Try Louies Backyard, Pepe's, A1 lobster house, Camilles, 7 Fishes, or Kelly's . If you want more let me know.
For tunes and bars try Irish Kevins ,Schooner Wharf, The Bull, Cap'n Tony's.
The very best bar for tunes is The Green Parrot.
Breakfast at Pepe's is incredible. Oldest place in the keys.

Like Key Lime Pie? Place called Porky's... it's a little hole in the wall bar bq joint attached to a local marina... the q is really decent but the key lime pie is some of the best I have ever had... it's on the right hand side of the road just before you hit the bridge leaving marathon... go for the fried pie... mmmmmmmmmmm
just got back a few weeks ago and found key west to be way to commercial... like International Drive Orland South... Pier House was a great place to stay.... right next to all of the action you want on Duval but a nice quiet hideway when you have had enough and need to sober up... bonus points for their little private beach and its topless section...
Key West was fun but from my cheap seat it was a been there, done that kind of place... oh, actually stumbled into a sunset cruise on a nice little schooner, the Jolly Rover me thinks.... was like $80 bucks for the two of us... since I had never been on a real sailing ship it was worth it... the cute little deck hand from Venezuela was worth the privce of admission... she could hoist my jib any day!
