Default Inside the diff

I finally got the differential dropped and cracked open today. I was honestly expecting more carnage. The pinion gear (that's the name right?) lost 3 teeth, everything else looks a little banged up but not too bad. The casing itself has some hairline cracks running through it, I guess it wasn't far from completely exploding.

Puddy, you said you wanted it a week or so ago. Is this still something you'd be interested in purchasing? If you, or anyone else, wants some more pics just let me know. Hopefully it's still salvageable, if not I guess I'll just keep it as a souvenir.

the hairline "cracks" could be casting marks made by the mold when they made the casing. I know those marks sometimes look like cracks.

Not happy with the quality of metallurgy in the Honda diffs. No even the 04 and above. Caps are crap and so are the pinion gears.

CRYOGENICS!!!!

Shameless self promoting plug!

No doubt, on the expense of a Nissan swap
I am still interested in the diff carcass Rob is right on the casting marks, that is the norm for the rear cover.
