Just finished major overhaul...
I finally finished...I started yesterday at about 10am, and the new parts were at my door this morning at 11. I worked all day today and got everything back together.
I replaced the rear bearing, the drive belt, the front bearing slides, and the front lower seal.....
..........on my '98 GE clothes dryer!
She's purring like a kitten now! The parts including overnight shipping came in at $110. I can only imagine how much it would've cost to call a GE repairman to do it.
FYI-for anyone planning on doing major work to their dryer....buy some kevlar/carbon fiber/titanium reinforced gloves. There are metal edges in there that are sharper then straight razors!
I have a missing flap of skin from my knuckle to prove it too.

Craig - you are a freakin nutt!!! Dee Dee Dee!!!! You better be careful. If you're going to make money one day it's because of those hands and not your pretty face. Look forward to catching a gig next weekend.

Anybody want to bring their dryers to a meet one night...I just turbo'd mine. I'm having a little trouble getting her tuned out though...runnin' a little too cool.
Craig, did you use the red or white assembly lube on those bearing slides? I've tried a few different techniques and just wanted your take on it.
Great thread!

Craig - better get some Maderma scar remover on that cut ASAP and then walk around with oven mits to protect those babies like George on Seinfeld.
