Default maintenance required

i have about 13800 miles on my '01. i have changed my oil twice since i bought it at 4500miles.

at about 12500 miles i got the maintenance light. ive read some stuff up already on it, and now the light is on the whole time. other than oil what could be the maintenance that has to be done? i dont have the service manual, but i read it before saying u have to something within certain miles.

can someone help me out. im new to the S scene.

thanks alot.

The maint is listed in the owners manual.

Just reset the light for now.

it blinks on startup at first to tell you your "scheduled" oil change is coming up. When it gets to the target mile count the light stays on. if you are good on your oil change schedule, just reset the light.

refer to the owners manual if you want to keep up on the scheduled service and adopt the "Maint req" reminder light schedule if you want to keep it convenient.

Without accually starting the car when you turn the key on hold down the trip reset button(be holding while turning the key on) . Continue to hold the button for about 12 - 15 seconds until the light goes off and it will come back on in about 7500 miles .

i will look in the service manual. i will check my oil in the morning. i just had it services at around 11500, and my next one isnt until another 1000 miles. ive read up saying 5 quarts isnt enough?

and yes garage queen it was. the paint is still new.. plastic window was hazed out though. and only 2 pebble marks on the car.

AP1's require around 5.3 quarts for good fill of oil... got to keep #4 cylinder good and wet.

Remeber too that you have to prime the oil filter with some of that oil before installing it. put 5 quarts in, start the car and let it run for a few seconds to pump the oil around a bit, shut it off and let it settle for a few minutes and then fill more oil until it is around 1"X" below the High line. Make sure your car is on a level surface and use the back of the dipstick to check the measure line.

the hazing on your rear window can be solved with a liberal application of Plexus to each side of the window (some hand buffing will be involved but not bad). Plexus is a plastics polish sold at most motorcycle shops and online...just google it and buy some, it is a life saver for the window

My '06 manual says to change the oil yearly if the miles aren't met.
Is that true for AP1's?

Dont go with the amount listed for the oil fill up . Just like Primogen (rob) said go to the fill line on the dipstick and check the oil more than regularly . These cars will burn oil , its not a typical honda like my accord that never uses any oil at all
