Thumbs down In Memory of Rare M5

It is with great sadness that I am typing up this thread but early this morning through an old First Coast S2k member, I found out that one of our old members in Jax has passed away. Sang was an incredibly great guy and it was an honor to know him for the short time he lived in our area. We managed to keep in touch here and there over the past few years with the last time we emailed being August 26, 2008 regarding the surprise farewell party for Lbsypher (Bryan).

I have copied and pasted an article announcing his death back in October just for those that perhaps remember him. I'll check my albums before posting to see if I have an old shots of him. I don't know how he passed as of yet. My assumption is it might have been in the line of duty because he was in the FBI following the move from Jax.

You will be missed my friend.
Shay

Jun, Sang T. Age 36, of El Paso, TX, was born August 26, 1972 in Seoul, South Korea and passed away October 22, 2008 in El Paso. Sang served as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oakland, CA and El Paso. He is survived by his wife, Kay Lee Kennedy; father and stepmother, Myung and Chong Jun; mother-in-law, Chong Kennedy; sisters, Karen Jun and Lynne Spiegel and brother-in-law, Tom; sister-in-law, Jean Kennedy; and paternal grandmother, Corky Payne. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Williams Memorial Chapel. Funeral procession will depart at 12:00 p.m. for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.

This is a pic of his old S way back in '03 - he was known for creating the "elephant nose" - see holes in the faux brake ducs - he had one feeding the CAI and the other just to balance the look.

That's Sang sitting just behind me at the end of the table on the right.

Another picture of a bunch of the S's lined up that day with his parked just to the left of my car.

He couldn't have been married more than a year. I have the wedding announcement still on our fridge at home. I still regularly wear the FBI t-shirt he bought me after he officially joined. We even ragged on him after getting married because when he lived here we use to say our daughter, Kennedy, was his girlfriend because for whatever reason those two just connected. Turns up he married a fine young lady by the name of Kennedy.

In some twisted way I sort of hope he died in the line of duty. He loved his job. He actually left a very successful IT career to go fight terrorists. 9/11 really affected him by his own account. We couldn't believe he was going to go from IT making serious $$ to a dangerous government job. If it was in the line of duty I hope he took a few of those mothers down with him.

I'll see if I can find anything out but in any event we lost a great one.

Hey guys. Most of you probably dont know me, and it's been years since i've posted on S2ki. I was pretty involved with the S2ki community, especially with the old school Jacksonville crew when it was just Shay, Bryan (Lbsypher) myself and Sang (Rare M5). Sang was one of the nicest guys I have ever known and was always willing to help out. Whether it be installing his signature "elephant nose" on your car (which ended up hydrolocking my engine downtown haha) , or doing something totally different like taking his time, and being one of the first to teach me to shoot a handgun. He was always down to hang out with his friends. I was shocked to find out he had passed away and if you read the link below, it was in the line of duty, however it was during a training exercise. He will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him, especially by the original FCS2K guys.

thank you for that

it is a very unfortunate story. I wish the best for his widow considering such a stressful year and being a newlywed. I hope she has the strength to continue considering this tragic death and a difficult personal MS diagnosis ... wow.

I hope the best for all the family and friends. It is always a difficult 'test' life brings us when a loved one is removed from our lives.
