hmmmm.... ( forgive me anyone ) but.. when MJ's name is still around say.... 2000 years after his death... or his follower's names... then we'll consider a debate on who's the most famous name around... sofar.. MJ's count is 50 years and after death just began... not to steal away any of his thunder...

I never said he was historically relavent. I am simply saying that more people know micheal jackson's name and who he was than any other political, social or historical figure.

You sample 100K people from all walks of life, from all nations.... whatever....more people will know his name and who he is than ANY other figure that has ever lived besides maybe that of Jesus Christ.

The only reason we know other names from 2000 years ago is because we have traceable historical record. word of mouth gets grossly distorted and basically unprovavble after about 3 generations or about 75 years whichever comes first.

MJ will be known for millions of years (if not more) if we continue to survive as a species and if we keep our current level of technology. In fact, as long as technology survies in some form it does not even matter if the keepers are human. he is is a part of our permanent collective...he will, in essence, be remembered until the planet blows up......maybe even longer if some other lifeform downloads our records

And how many names do we really keep with us from 2000 years ago and how relavant are they to us now?

Hammurabi = made some nice hanging gardens and gave us a codex for modern law...do we honor him with VH1 tributes?

Poeple know his name but he is not "remembered" We dont have knowledge of any Cro-magnon celebrities because we have no record of thier experiences.

I am not arguing you but MJ's name and life will easily be remembered forever....he may not be relavant in 1000 years but he will be on record and people will study him...just like any other musical "masters".

It was a joke. TImberlake is a joke! MJ was a great entertainer and the best way i heard it put was, " He is the best entertainer of his generation."

As I would say Elvis was! History will tell us which one will live on longer.

that's why i asked for anyone to forgive me first... and yes i know MJ is a world figure.. but, he wasn't one of my musical tastes.. doesn't make me less sad... any human passing under non normal circumstances is horribly sad... one wishes the whole planet would morn the passing of precious lives... one would hope the whole planet would come to it's senses... et pour ca la vie pour la guerre
