Post Mod Day in Valrico--Install Sara's Stereo

Mod Day in Valrico--install your Christmas gifts on Dec 26th. I'll be installing Sara's new Alpine head unit and Alpine component speakers--I also bought the wire kit from Lucid. I've been reading all the posts, and have a good idea what to do, but if anyone with some experience wants to come over and make suggestions......please come--I'm thinking about 10AM. PM me for directions if you want to help--if McGyver was to come, I'm sure we would have a turn out...

It may come to that.....depends on turn out, and how well it goes for me.
Also how long Sara can wait--which I expect will be not too long--can't blame her.

I know this looks like a big mess--but not as bad as it looks, since all but about 3 wires total are not color coded perferctly. I purchased the wire harness, relay and SWI-ALP interface from Lucid. I thought the information was very good except for wiring up the relay--not clear, but now we know it goes between the interrupt wire on the Alpine deck and the 12V mute power wire on the harness. The SWI-ALP interface for the dash controls was easy to wire up--just 3 wires--power, ground, and one wire (white) to the harness dash control wire. Programming the thing was not so clear, but we got through it--thanks to Jvrabel!

One warning--don't leave the speaker wires too long--they can get caught in the window mechanism and get yanked right off--how do we know........? One other thing you may want to know--the factory crossovers did not seem to work right with the new Alpine component speakers--so the crossovers that came with the new speakers is now installed--much much better sound. If I had to do this job all over again, I think it would only take maybe 2 hours!

Sara is thrilled--finding excuses just to go driving--she is cranking it up now without distortion. It is really much better with the top down now.
