My poor S has been through so much. I just got it back from the paint shop because someone keyed the hood to find that the paint had imperfections. I have no idea how to fix that since it was done by the dealership. Now I parked the car over at international mall to do my christmas shopping (bahhumbug) to find that someone had hit the car with their door. The dent doesn't look like it can be popped out. It's pretty tiny but looks deeps and i'm not sure if they took paint off or not which with my luck they probably did. Of course on a black car the dent is extraordinarily noticeable especially with the paint either left by the other car or taken off of my car on it. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any good dent removal places in the tampa bay area/brandon area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also for the hood thing I have no idea what to do with that i'll probably go to the dealership and yell at em (NEVER EVER GO TO HONDALAND!!!). One more question is after the paintjob there were a bunch of swirl marks also swirls are on the trunk of the car and i was reading up and everyone has said that the "Porter Cable" is the best and that I could get it from Lowes. I'm not exactly sure what that is and I was wondering if this was it ===>http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...6SP&lpage=none
I'm guessing that there is another pad that I would have to put on it as I highly doubt I should be using sand paper to buff out swirl marks. Thanks a bunch guys!
I definitely would like to come out to some of those group drives and meet all of you all some time. Just that I haven't had my S for a while I really JUST got it back. But yeah definitely next meet i'll try and come out. I especially wanna try some of the autox events i've been reading about. I have some friends that go out to them and i'm planning on going with em to the next one too. Thanks a bunch for the help. Another thing is are there any places with maybe an 813 in their phone number?? I mean I wouldn't really mind the drive out to st pete (top down ) or something but closer is always nice.
As far as the paint job is concerned. You have the right to take it back and say it is not right. Keep inspecting it every time they fix it until you are satisfied.
Yeah i'm definitely gonna be going back there. Another sad news is that I have a CD stuck in my cd player! I just have a lotta good luck hah oh well I still love her.
Definitely take the car back regarding the paint job. Never stop until it is absolutely 100% correct.
Also you'd be surprised what a good dent removal guy can get out of a car. My black S was hit by a tree June 2004. Granted I needed a new trunk lid but the rear passenger quarter panel was totally cleaned up without replacement or bondo. Here's some before (tree on the car) and after (me pulling in straight from the shop).
Also, the PC is the best but you'll want to get the detail kit for it. You can buy the PC from Lowes but it's going to be set up for sanding and stuff. It's what I did but if you get it out of the box as a detailer you'll save a couple bucks. You want velcro pads so you can change them pretty quick plus they have all of the microfiber bonnets and stuff you'll need. I can't find the website I got it from but the place was in Tampa and I think it was something like Classic Automotive or something close to that. Great people. If I find the site I'll repost.
Another also, buy plenty of Zaino stuff for your black car if you want it to stay black. Heavy on the Z-5 in my experience. Go to Zainostore.com and consider getting the car wash, clay bar, Z-5 scratch remover polish, and some Z-6 and finishing spray. Not cheap but a kazillion times better than Meguiars, etc. for your black S. Trust me. I've had mine over 5 years and other than a tree she's purty.
Thanks for the zaino advice i'll def look into that. I want her looking like new all the time. I would like to find a dent removal expert near me though I wouldn't mind travelling some to find the best. The damage isn't to the extent of a tree falling on my car (though to my heart it felt the same) but I still want to find the best guy around here. Still lookin for those 813 phone numbers guys! Thanks.
I'm sure there's a good PDR (paintless dent removal) guy in the 813 area. If they have them here they have to have them there.
Get on the dealership though. Don't wait another day.
Also when you do go to use the Zaino, much like inspecting the paint work as already mentioned, pull the car out of the garage/shade into direct sunlight. Check the paint from multiple angles. Get on your knees. The whole 9. You're bound to find a couple spots that need a little more elbow grease but man when you get her slick you'll stop traffic.
