Default Need Help with a DCI-2 and my Alpine Deck

I just got a DCI-2 for my aftermarket Alpine cda-9825. The unit I got was used and pre wired for an Alpine deck, wiring looks good, and head unit plays fine. I pluged in my harness and no good, head unit played no dash controls? The only thing that worked was the mute button? I didnt wire the speed sensor???? and I didnt have that 3.5mm stero jack plug in the back of my head unit, I dont have a plug for it, so it was not plugged? The little toggles looked to be in the right places as per wiring diagram. Any ideas what could be wrong? or how I might re set my DCI-2 or make sure it's good? Let me know if you guys have had any problems like this? Thanks, Martin

If you don't get any responses here, try posting in the Electronics Forum
I've never heard of this. I would suggest taking a closer look at the wiring again.

That plug is the key to it working, that's where it sends the signals. the mute funtion is hard wired in so it works. you have two choices
1. trade your radio back for one with the jack in the back for steering wheel controls (best option)
2. get the DCI that uses an infra red emitter to work. that emmitter has to be placed around the area of the radio that senses IR. I personally don't like the look of that one, and if the top is down and the radio door is open the controls may not work

Hope that helps

Mitch

Yea that stereo plug is needed... Wonder if I can use one of these Alpine KCA-121B Ai-NET/RCA Audio line adapter cable plugs that goes into the cd changer port? It would allow me to plug in the 3.5mm stereo plug? Might work, going to try it, if not I get new head unit. Thanks guys anyone else chime in!

using an adapter will not work, that jack on the back is specifically for IR input, nothing else will work. upgrade your radio and you will be good to go
