Default need a little help...

ok guys i will try to explain my situation the best i can, so here it goes,

ive been having a very weird oil leak just like the one our s2k member is having (not sure if he got it fixed or not) on the bottom of my cam chain tensioner, everytime i pass my finger under the tensioner i have oil in my finger. so i removed the v-tech selinoid and the tensioner so i can replace all the O-rings on it, to see if that would solve my oil leak. Here is my question, on the manual it says to put a bolt and a nut on the tensioner then compress the other side and install a pin from one side to the other to hold the peace that you have compressed on the tensioner. what does that bolt and nut is suppose to do? cause if its suppose to hold the compress part on the other side and hold it, mines is not doing it. Am i missing anything ?. This is what i found when i removed the tensioner.

In this pic the only thing that i removed was the O-rings from the tensioner as you can see cause Im getting them new from honda. but other than that do you see anything missing?

Do i have to use that one bolt and nut that the manual is saying to install it back on the car? cause i can still install it without it but am not sure exactly what does the bolt and nut is suppose to do?.

any info that you might have or tip would be very helpful. thank you.

it can be done without the bolt as long as you are able to compress the piston and put some form of a pin through the hole on the side that holds the piston compressed. it is alot easier with the bolt. i got one at napa for like 40 cents.
i recommend replacing the bolts that actually hold the tensioner to the head they have a tendency to stretch which can cause them to break off in the head during reinstall if you over torque them. also, pay attention to what side you put the pin on- there are two holes on the tensioner to install the pin but only one is accessible from the plug on the head.

They suck putting them back together. I have a fix for the ones that make noise but it requires taking the whole thing apart and putting it back together. I have welded up a special C-Clamp that helps me out with it. The piston has to spin while you press it in because its on a big spiral bolt looking thing. I am really bad at describing it. But it is not in the picture.

it looks like the person that had the car before me had mess with the tensioner before cause the screw that hold the tensioner is stripped so am not sure what am missing.

The second part next to tensioner body has a coarse threaded part that goes inside it, your missing that part.

Your leak is most likely from the stripped bolt, when I first replaced mine 5 or 6 months ago I didn't have the bolts tightened enough (to specs) and it started leaking. I tightened it up to specs the leak went away. The tensioner must not have been working at all without that part in it.
It can be assembled and put together by hand without any special tools. Put your thumb on the bottom and your first finger on the top, squeezing it together between your thumb and first finger turn it round and round with your other hand, the piston will slowly recess into the tensioner body till it's all the way recessed below the end where the pin goes in. I used a small finish nail that fit in the original pin hole that secures the piston in. I cut it shorter so it didn't stick out past the demensions of the tensioner body. Oh yeah make sure you put nail or pin in the right direction or else you will have to pull it back out and put the pin in the right side because you can get it out the head of the pin is on the wrong side of the tensioner. LOL
Sorry for the ramblings on.

yes. The worm gear is exacly what am missing very weird how I had my car for about 3 years and it has always been like this with out the worm gear. Now I want to make it right. So I called honda and they told me that they do not sell this part separatly and that I had to buy everything brand new. It cost $166 this wasnt in the budget. Anyone has any other ideas where I can get a used one or just the worm gear by it self. What would you guys recommend? Thanks for everyones help.
