Default Need a top replacement

Hello everyone,

My car is coming up on lease at the end of the year and I have the dreaded rip above the passenger side window. I want to get it replaced as cheaply as possible. I know that a bunch of guys have had theirs replaced recently. Should I go with cloth or vinyl? Robbins or custom? How are the custom tops holding up? Which one is most durable? Unfortunately, I do not have a garage so my car lives outside if that makes a difference. I also need help with a place that can fix curb rash on my wheels. Thanks in advance for any help you can give. I miss seeing everyone. I will try to get back with you guys once I slow down and catch my breath. Do you guys have any pics of the custom tops or Robbins?

Thanks,

Jerry

Jerry,

I think we met many a year ago. Wish you the best on your top replacement. I replaced mine about 4 1/2 years go but went for total OEM with new glass top and frame. I know there are many replacements out there so I'm sure Willie Gee and a few others will chime in soon.

Best of luck to you. Hope to catch up soon and that you'll continue to be an S owner. You should participate in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg!!!!!

http://www.lhtperformance.net/

They work with Autoway Honda and have a very reasonable price for a top and labor; several members have used them.

Was this from wear and tear? I ask b/c so i know what to look for in my 05.

That being said, just patch it. I have a small patch on my CPO and it was in no way an issue and it doesn't leak.

Also, don't you have +/- $1000 damage in your lease? That'll easily be covered

Thanks guys. When is the Grand Prix? I remenber you Shay. What's up man. Unfortunately, I will be unable to keep the S. I hope to own another one day, but I have been daily driving one for 8 years. It is time to start a family and I need something to haul around clients in. I will not stray far from these forums. I have made many friends here.

XScarAudio, I will have to check the docs. You are probably right. It was from wear and tear but I can see the dealer screwing me for 2G's for a new top when I turn it in. I have never leased a car and I am afraid that they will nickle and dime me to death on turn in day.

The 1500 wear and tear in the honda lease is for3 seperate #500 incidents not one $1000-$1200 one . Get a patch for jeans and patch it from the inside , one of the Iron On type that yo can put on the inside of the top ..

Not a bad idea my friend. I need to look over the docs. Do you mean that I can possibly turn the car in with a ripped top and have no repercussions?

The dealer will not be the one to charge you for it either . Before you turn it in they will inpect the car if you have not already done so , usually about 1 month before turn in . You have to arange it . The car will go to Honda in Atlanta where they auction them but before the auction it will be looked over . This is when they determine the damages to the car and then they send you a bill . When you turn the car in have the dealership give you an inspection report as well as an odometer statement validating how and when you turned the car in an where .

My lease is with 5th Third Bank and the dealer is Hondaland. I only have forty thousand miles on it so I am not worried at all about mileage.
