Default New guy in O-town

Hey everyone. Just wanted to stick my head in and say hello. I'm not quite an S2000 owner yet. But my bank says and I've got a bid in for a 21k mile Spa 2001 here at the local florida auto auction. So with any luck I'll be sitting on black leather by Tuesday. Just wanted to get a feel for the local S2000 community here first. I come from a turbocharged eclipse community before this and the emphasis there is speed, speed, speed. If you had a primered 10 second car you were cool... but if you had a shiney 14 second car you were horribly misguided . Here it seems to be a bit more rounded. Somewhat fast, good handling but with tasteful looks added on. In my old age that seems to fit better anyway. So in any case... wish me luck in getting my Spa, and I hope to meet some of you at the next big meet.

Welcome good luck with the bid, I looked for about 6 months before I found the right car. My 02 had less than 4,500 miles.... I bought it in Dec. of 03 The original owner took delivery of the car in Jan. 02 so the car was two years old when I got it. The guy messed his back up just after he bought it and was not able to drive the car The car was clean clean clean......to say the least.

You will the car there a blast to drive, and fun to build....and thats from a guy who only built and drove American mussel cars and swore never to buy or drive a rice car......D@me rice cars...LOL...

Welcome! Hope things go well for you with the auction. As you have probably already noticed, DSMs are completely different animals, but the ideology is kinda the same. Accentuate the strong points of the car to make it faster... we just for the most part don't do straight lines... Keep us updated on your new purchase... there are alot of us in Orlando, but it seems to be a little difficult getting us all together for anything less then the florida supermeet once a year...

Where's the auction at? I work near a couple of auction houses. I'll look for it when I drive by tonight.

If you're in it by Tuesday, I know they're having a meet in Orlando Tuesday night. You should stop by.

Talked with my dealer guy today. Says it's a done deal and he's going to try and pick it up from the auction yard today. When he snuck me in to pre-view it on Thursday it was at the Florida Auto Auction at 50 and 429.

I'll have to see about making it to that meet on Tuesday. I'm assuming the details are in another thread? I'll check.
