Default new law

i just heard on the news that starting at the end of the month, there is a new law going into effect. you can now be pulled over if you are seen with no seat belt on. they no longer need to see you commit another offense in order to get you for the seat belt. i know we all wear them all the time anyway, but just a heads up

no big deal to me... i wear mine all the time anyway.

I think its about time they are allowed to do this. Always thought it was silly that they had to get you for something else before they could get you for not having a belt on.

Just what I need, the government enforcing common sense. There should be no seat belt law. The government should mandate that we must have insurance to drive on public roads. The insurance company should void any pay outs if it is determined that we are not wearing a seat belt. Does it really matter if you drive with a seat belt? No, it only matters if you crash while not wearing one. Seat belts are should be worn as a matter of common sense and saftey, not by goverment mandate.

But then again some folks are crazy enough to drive motor cycles without helments, maybe they should bring that law back too.

In some places you can't drive and talk on a cell phone. But I wonder why we can drive and eat a Big Mac.

The government should do everything they can to keep everyone alive by mandating things like this... they can't collect tax on dead people....... or CAN they? hmmm...

There's a better new law out there. The US Supreme Court threw out the search laws as they relate to automobiles stopped by police.

Those laws were put in in the 80's and it took this long for it to get through the courts. I wonder how many people were worked over illegally and financially by unconstitutional laws. I hope they have recourse of some sort.

It's a shame that there are people out there who still haven't gotten the message that the most reliable way to avoid a serious injury during a collision is for the driver and all passengers to wear seat belts.

I frequently see cars with children not wearing seat belts, not in car seats or worse yet sitting in the lap of the front passenger without a seat belt.

You have to be ignorant not to understand that wearing a seat belt will greatly increase your chance of survival and reduce your risk of injury during a traffic accident. Yet many people do not use seat belts and how any parent could drive a vehicle with a child not properly restrained is beyond comprehension.

For these people they should receive a ticket and the parents should have child neglect charges brought against them. No excuse.
