Default new tires

Current setup:
Work VS-XX
front = 18x8 (+51 offset) - tires = Kumho 225/40
rear = 18x9.5 (+64 offset) - tires = Kumho 255/35

Looking for a little more traction and considering this setup. It seems that the Falken's have great treadwear and traction. Also, my front tires rub a tiny bit even after rolling them, so I'm considering moving down to a 35 series tire in the front.

The car is my daily driver and I auto-x it once a month.

Front = Falken FK 452 - 225/35
Rear = Falken FK 452 - 265/35

Thoughts? too staggered?

Thanks for your comments.

sway bar? Suspension upgrades?

With a beefer sway bar up front you could experience understeer with that stagger.

You'll be ok but you will get a tad more understeer. You can adjust that slightly with air pressure adjustments.....but do the 225/40. If you change to the 35 series your ABS will not work as intended with a different overall diameter than the rear....

How about this:

Falken Azenis RT-615

Front : 225/40R-18
Rear : 265/35R-18

and a cusco front sway bar (172% increase in stiffness) to combat the understeer issue.

A stiffer front bar will only make the understeer worse.

BTW...after reading some reviews on the 615s, I probably would not recommend them as daily drivers...eventhough I just mounted a set myself. I read the reviews after they were purchased. Evidently, rain performance is described as "scarry" even at 10mph below posted limit. I'm going to beat on mine hard and then switch to the RE-01R, which hopefully will be available in a 255 for the rear by then.

Check to see if Avon's come in the size you need. I have them in 17" they stick great and there very,very good in the rain.

Tire rack has them

Try BFG KDW New Tread Tires. They are great for traction, and the rain performance is nothing short of amazing. I had them on my old car, and when my s2k tires get worn, I will definitely buy another set of them again.

Hey willie, check out and see if they have the sizes you want. they are the cheapest around for my so2's by far maybe they have whatcha need. they are about 55 bucks cheaper for the 225/45/17 but no 255 listed, if memory serves me right, there isn't one yet recalling an older post by neggie, he looked into it, could be wrong though.

I second this. I love my Avon Tech M500's, rain or shine.
