Default NISSAN GT-R

I was thinking about buying a GT-R (like I could afford one )

This guy's warranty was voided because the VDC was turned off, for those of you that do n't know what a VDC is. It is the Vehicle Dynamic Control. This unit is used to monitor the steering angle and vehicle direction. Now Nissan wants him to pay $20Kfor a new tranny Check this out...

Ok, I'm showing my naivety here but how does something that "monitors" your steering and vehicle direction effect your transmission and cause it to blow?

I've read several reports where Nissan has replaced the transmissions before any issues have occurred because there was some fluid leakage noticed at the first service.

I think it's mixed. But you cannot go into the dealer with the attitude of "fix this under warranty or I'll sue", because that puts them on the defensive.

Obviously, if they can't prove in a court of law that turning off VDC caused the trans to blow, they legally have to repair/replace it.

that car has full potential to be bad ass. its advertised as bad ass. but they dumb it down. which can be overridden with the flick of a switch!!! and a voided warranty.

awesome idea nissan!

I believe the key here is that launch control is not able to be activated while VDC is on. There's no reason to turn off VDC unless you want to launch the car and launch control is what blows the trannys. I think it's complete BS that they advertise the car to do certain things, but if you do them it voids the warranty. Nonetheless there does seem to be a direct correlation to VDC and exploding transmissions.

if this is something that can be turned off at a switch to enable "launch control" than this is complete BS and Nissan should own up to a shitt trans and FIX IT . VW has a lauch feature on the GTI and Jetta GLI as well as the R32 . In order to "launch" the car the VSA has to be TURNED OFF . DUH nissan .
