There seems to be a gender confusion here.

All you would need for a fire bottle is to have one mounted to the roll bar with metal mounting clips. Very easy and pretty darned cheap. You would of course need a drivers suit, SA rated helmet, various nomex things (gloves, socks, etc.) a window net or arm restraints, approved 5 pt. harness, a copy of the Solo Rule Book and GCR, a log book, and a willingness to have a hell of a lot of fun. It sounds like a lot but it's really not all that bad. The next event will be at CMP in Kershaw, SC on August 7th, and 8th and the track is even more fun than TGPR -- and a whole lot faster.

I'll help you out any way I can and I'm sure the other Solo I guys will too.

I'm looking at about $2k (maybe more) to get solo1 legal, which isn't bad considering how fast the car is. Kershaw is a nice track, but 1 hell of a drive for the weekend. (Been there with shifter karts)

I'd also have to look into changing seats, I'm not sure if a 5pt harness can be used with the stockers.

I agree it's a hell of a drive for the weekend. We'll stop in Atlanta going up and coming home this time. Last year I drove all the way home after leaving there late in the afternoon after two days of racing. In addition my wife has to be in her office Monday morning in NH. so I'll have to drop her at the Atlanta airport also.

2K sounds about right to get the car and driver ready. That's what I had budgeted for my Miata before it was totaled.

Chris,
You going to get into some serious autocrossing? You definitely have the ride for it Good luck, since you have already rode with CG you are a little ahead of me.

I'm not sure if he got the track bug or the autocross bug. Autocrossing IS the place to learn car control but lapping days and time trials (Solo I) is a major blast. He didn't get much out of me when he rode with me at Talladega. I didn't push his car hard in the turns at all because of a serious lack of runoff room and not wanting to risk screwing it up. I can tell ya, I loved the smooth extra power his car has.
