Default OHHHH NOOOO

im kinda new on this forum but i think some of u might remeber me. my name is brian and i have a black 03 s2000. i live in jax and i ran into some trouble last night!

ill start by sayin this! i was being a little naughty last night with this turbo gti, we ran like 3 times and i got him 2 of 3! but on the third run i missed shifted! on the way home i stopped at a red light and my car started to "idle" rough then the check engine light came on! i called a couple friends (alex s) and asked what they thought. then i called the dealer and they all said the same thing. they all think i have valve damage! i didnt drive the car anymore that night and im having it towed to the dealer right now,if Anyone has been throu this, or any thing simular give me an idea of what i might be looking at. the dealer said it would be someware in the 1500-3000 dollar range!!!!!! any help would be greatly appreciated!

ps i set aside some money roughly 1800 for a set of volks but now it looks like i wont be getting them as soon as i hoped

that sucks man- i overreved my motor a couple months back- but mine was a lot more severe than yours by the sound of it. my motor actually turned off and wouldn't turn back on. (all eight of the exhaust valves made contact with the pistons- luckily it didn't damage the pistons) i spent close to 1,000 to fix mine- but that was me doing the work. ( i took my head to dover cylinder heads and let them assemble the head with the new parts and check it over ) but that included new gaskets, head bolts, valves, retainers, keepers, valve guides, getting a valve job done and a couple other things. another guy i know out here only damaged one valve and took it in and spent about 1,400 for them to just replace one valve and nothing else. i will pm you my number if you have any questions.

You are better off fixing the car your self. You can do a performance head for the price of the dealer doing minimum work to get you running.

I agree with Ben about having a dealer fix your car. They will charge you out the butt if it isn't covered under warranty. Most I have seen have made people in your situation buy a new head.

Remember you can always to the car from the dealer to a good shop in your area. If they hit you with an outragious price you should tow it away.

As far as modifying the head goes. If the car is stock I would stay away from modifying it. You can hurt the already good airflow and without engine management you really can't take much advantage of possible airflow increases.
